Safety Tips Blog - submit your ideas

Do you have great ideas on how to stay safe, secure, and healthy?  Please submit your ideas on this blog for everyone to read.   Here's a couple of ideas to get you thinking:

  1. To keep your door from being kicked in easily, install an extra piece of steel tubing behind the plate of your deadbolt lock and into the wall, so the deadbolt also fits into the tubing.  With this arrangement, a robber not only has to break the door, they have to kick down the entire front wall of your house.
  2. Create a fire safety plan for your family, including where to meet after leaving your home.   Evaluate each room for alternate exits in case a door is too hot or smoky to open.  Teach children to crawl along the floor in a fire because the smoky air rises to the ceiling first.

Thanks.

Safety and security tips - share your ideas here

I'm looking for some great tips to share on how to stay safe and secure.   I would like to include the top two best ideas submitted each month in our store newsletter on Safety and Security tips.   If your tips are selected and included in the newsletter, you will be entitled to free shipping on any one item from my store.

Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  1. Always check your surroundings and be aware of anyone around you or following you, especially after dark
  2. Have your keys ready when you approach your car at dark.
  3. Sign up for self defense classes (many karate studios and community programs offer a one or two day women's self defense class, often for free)
  4. For your home, install deadbolt locks, locks on windows, security systems, motion detectors and lights.
  5. Use sunscreen anytime you are outside for more than a few minutes.

Hope you are having a great summer - stay safe and have fun!
