Decapitation on a Greyhound...

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/manitoba/story/2008/07/31/greyhound-transcanada.html

"When we came back on the bus, it was visible at the end of the bus he was cutting the guy's head off and pretty much gutting him up," said Caton.

The attacker ran at them, Caton said, and they ran out of the bus, holding the door shut as he tried to slash at the trio.

When the attacker tried to drive the bus away, the driver disabled the vehicle, Caton said.

"While we were watching the door, he calmly walks up to the front with the head in his hand and the knife and just calmly stares at us and drops the head right in front of us," said Caton.

The Royal Hudson in action...

This was taken where today's rock slide took place, at Porteau Cove.

As you can see, the highway and the railway were very close together in spots!

Hudson20

Sea to Sky highway in BC

This highway is the main road between Vancouver and Whistler, and while it's an incredibly beautiful area rockslides are commonplace.
One today has blocked the road for at least a few days.
This picture is of a slide from 1990 that closed both the road and the railway for 2 weeks.
With the Winter Olympics coming here in 2010, they're going to have to find many alternate ways to transport atheletes and fans!

Update on the money order guy...

(see prior post)

He didn't even have my address!!

He sent the money order to my name, my city, prov, country, postal code.

No street address, and they delivered it with no problem.

Who says Canada Post doesn't know what they're doing?

As for the DVD/Laserdisc guy, he was very happy to accept the mutual transaction withdrawal.
What a pain.

2 winners already today...

Winner #1, and exhibit A on why I only accept Paypal:

(my email to them after receiving a green postal money order in the mail)

I suppose I should thank you for sending a money order, however as I only accept Paypal I'm not sure why you thought that sending one would be a good idea.
I also have no idea as to how you got my address, I'll assume you looked it up online and took it upon yourself to send it despite being told that I only accept Paypal.
So besides all that, I'm just wondering why you would purchase a money order to send to Canada that CLEARLY states on the front "negotiable only in the US and possessions".
Canada is not in the US, and it's not a possesion of the US. The money order is completely and totally useless to me, and I'm not very inclined to bother sending it back UNLESS you pay for the item with Paypal as the listing calls for. That way I could include the money order with the shipment.
I'm just not sure what part of "no, I don't take money orders" was so hard to understand?
Can you help with this?

Winner #2

(after I accepted a somewhat low best offer on a LASERDISC)

Hi-I just made a huge mistake and thought this was dvd-is there any we can dal with this-I feel like a dope-I've been dooing this for a couple years and never did this before-I was just expecting it to be DVD (also hoping) -whatever you say I'll go along with-thanks and very sorry!

My reply:

What part of it being clearly identified as a Laserdisc got you confused?

His reply to my reply:

Hi-It wasn't your listing that was confusing. I was doing a search on "(name removed) DVD" and for some reason it pooped (!) up  and I just didn't read it-I take full responsiblity.

POOPED up? Has best match now become POOP match? ;o)

I'll be nice to this one and do a mutal withdrawal. I just can't bear trying to explain what a Laserdisc player is.

And yes, before you say anything, I'm fully aware that I'm sarcastic. Deal with it.

Melissa Etheridge's version of The Weakness in Me

Wow, she does a great version of it.
Someone put together a video for of clips from The L Word, where it was used.
Great stuff.

Just found this great song I'd never heard before

Was working putting away newly listed CDs, and put on the Joan Armatrading Greatest Hits CD as I'd never really listened to her.
Wasn't doing a lot for me, but then I got to track 13, The Weakness in Me.
What a fantastic song. Sounds a bit dated with the 80's synth washes, but the lyrics and of course the voice are fantastic.

No real video was produced, but someone did one up for YouTube.

I'm not the sort of person who falls in and quickly out of love
But to you, I give my affection, right from the start.
I have a lover who loves me - how could I break such a heart?
Yet still you get my attention.

Why do you come here, when you know I've got troubles enough?
Why do you call me, when you know I can't answer the phone?
And make me lie when I don't want to,
And make someone else some kind of an unknowing fool?
Make me stay when I should not?
If you're so strong then resolve the weakness in me.
Why do you come here, and pretend to be just passing by?
I need to see you - I need to hold you - tightly.

Feeling guilty,
And I'm worried, and I'm waking from a tormented sleep
'Cause this old love, you know it has me bound,
But this new love cuts so deep.
If I choose now, I'm bound to lose out;
One of you is gonna have to fall...
I need you, baby.
