NYC Sample Sales

I live in NYC, and all year I wait for the sample sales. NYC has so many fashion houses and many different designers, its like a little piece of heaven to be invited to a sample sale and know with 100% certainty that you are getting authentic items at a discounted price. OK that may seem a bit shallow, but having been ripped off way too many times, discovering the world of sample sales in NYC has been a blessing! Too many times have I thought I found a great deal on Ebay *sorry Ebay!* and was promised the item was authentic, only to find out the item is fake and I wasted my money on garbage. And people, CANAL ST. IS NOT A GIANT SAMPLE SALE!!!! Its great for shoppers who dont mind spending money on fake items...but listen, for around the same price you can go to a REAL sample sale and get the REAL thing! Why even waste your money on fake merchandise?? True sample sales are usually held for 1 or 2 days (on occasion they may be longer) and most are held in the fashion houses themselves, or at a major distributor of couture items. I have subscribed to many lists to get notice of these sample sales...some are open to the public (if you can find out about them) and some are by invite only. Also, there are some in which you need a business license to attend. But there is no better way to get high end merchandise at a deep discount than at these sample sales. Some words of advise: always check the item thoroughly before you purchase! These sales can get very crowded and sometimes items can get damaged. Always ask if the items are from the current season, last season, etc., are they flawed items or overstock, have they been used in any way for displays, photo shoots, marketing, shows, etc? Know what you are buying! I tend to shop the sales offering new, never used merchandise as the seasons are changing, when the design houses are clearing out winter items for spring...that sort of thing.
Well I could go on forever about these sales, but bottom line...if you live near NYC, it is definitely worth looking into the sample sales! Once you have gone to your first, it wont be your last! Have fun, ask lots of questions, and get there early so you can have your pick of the items!!! For sellers living in the NYC area who sell clothing, handbags, shoes, etc...unless you buy wholesale directly from the designers (which can be hard to do with the major names), this is the best way to offer your customers 100% authenticity! Thanks for reading, and happy shopping!
