The Author & her Books

Jacqueline Wilson is a very popular children's author.  Her books are a realistic portrayal about modern british children facing problems in their everyday lives.  Such problems her books cover range from the death of a pet through to divorce and other subjects parents may refrain from talking about.

The author can make you laugh, cry and scream out loud with a range of emotions and wonderfully diverse situations.  Jacqueline Wilson has a very imaginative mind.

In the list of the UK's 200 favourite children's books, there are fourteen of Jacqueline Wilson's titles.

Awards

Jacqueline Wilson has been on countless shortlists and has won many awards including The Smart Prize and The Children's Book Award.

Red House Children's Book Award

The Suitcase Kid- 1993

Double Act- 1996

The Illustrated Mum won the Guardian Children's Fiction Award and the 1999 Children's Book of the Year Award.

The Story of Tracy Beaker won the 2002 Blue Peter People's choice Award.

Other Achievements

In June 2002 Jacqueline Wilson was given an OBE for services to Literacy in School's.

October 2005 she was also awarded an Honorary Degree from the University of Winchester in recognition of her achievements in Children's Literature.

Finally, Jacqueline Wilson was made a Dame in the New Year's Honours List for 2008.
