Most Recent Posts Do you listen to The Beatles?Posted Jul-06-08 15:15:37 PDT I first heard The Beatles in 1964 along with the rest of the nation, and was immediately a fan. Even though it's hard to imagine being that young and having any idea what it was all about, the infectious sounds and energy hit us all, from hip adults down to the elementary school kids (my crowd). Nowadays, I'm still being transported back to that excitement when I listen to the music, and the images are so fresh and full of the personalities that we all came to love. I immediately distrust those who claim to "not like" The Beatles, even after all of these years. It's unthinkable that someone can live in that type of vacuum. The joy of finding someone who is equally enthralled with those four from Liverpool is so much fun. I went to a performance of RAIN last spring and sat next to a young couple (under 20) who were huge fans. She was "in love" with John Lennon. Who can blame her? Not even her boyfriend, apparently. I am a George fan. From the very beginning, he was the one who stood out to me. My dad played guitar, so I zeroed in on the one who was the key guitarist. It didn't hurt that he was breathtakingly handsome. To my eyes and artistic impression, he was the one to spend my fantasies on. I started making the G in my first name just like George's handwriting. To this day, I owe my signature, in part, to George's, which seemed so carefully crafted. And, like me, his signature has changed over the years...subtle little things, part of working it all out to look just right, perhaps. I like to think so. So, this blog is about the Beatles, if you like. Ebay is fun in so many ways, but it has definitely been the place where I started my Beatles collection. As I have been telling people, "if you're going to have a collection, then have a real collection". I'm trying my hardest :) |
