My name is Tosh and I'm a member of the Golf Collectors Society, in fact, at one time I was told that I was the "youngest active member" of the society as I started collecting golf "goodies" at the age of 12! This gives me 20 years experience in a hobby that has changed a great deal in those years! No question the greatest change has been the internet, no longer does a collector have to "hit the road" to find their "treasuers", they can now be found right at our finger tips and without leaving the house! This "technology" has been the topic of some heated debate, and let's be honest, hitting the antique stores and the antique shows on Saturday mornings were a great deal of fun as the "thrill" is no doubt in the "hunt"! However, with that being said, a collector can still "hunt", it's just done in a different way now(C'mon now, you know you've had nights when you spent hours pooring over Ebay auctions only to find that "special something" that makes all the "work" worth the effort), thus the need to evolve as collectors!. It's time for the serious collector to start embracing the internet, not fear it! Yes, the Saturday antique swap meets and the local antique stores will most likely never regain their popularity, but for the collector wanting to add to their collection, the internet provides an opportunity that swap meets and antique stores could never offer! So sit back, log on, and remember that anticipation is half the fun! The GolfCardExchange brand will focus mostly on providing quality golf cards, via ebay auctions, at a fair MARKET price! In other words, we will let the "market" determine the price of our cards! Through GolfCardExchange.com we hope provide collectors with a wealth of information, such as tips for golf card collectors wanting to improve their collecting methods, stories related to the hobby, an events calendar, links, other collecting tools and finally, something we are really hoping we can make work, a golf card price "ticker", much like a stock ticker! Using the latest sells on ebay, other auctions, Sports Market Report and the Becket Advisor price guides, we hope to offer golf card prices that can scroll across your computer screen, again, just like a stock ticker! Of course golf card prices will not fluctuate as much as a stock price, but the "ticker", if we can get it up and running correctly, should be quite fun indeed. Obviously, many of the features on the web site will be for fun and entertainment only and the primary purpose will ALWAYS be to list and sell the many great golf cards we have available to offer! One final thing I want to make clear, although it would appear that I am a "dealer", but I am NOT, at least not really! I am a collector first, seller second! In fact, most of the items I will sell have been in my own collection at one time or another! The cards I offer up for sell are usually cards that I found in better condition, or many times I will buy an auction lot of several cards, but may only need one of them for my collection? It is these cards that find their way to my auctions! I also sell items on consignment, so I always have items ready to go up for sale! While most of the items sold by GolfCardExchange will be done so using "auctions" on Ebay, the website will also have cards available for purchase and will be updated often! Again, just to be clear, the feature on the GolfCardExchange website offering cards and such for sale should be up and running by the official "ground opening" day, 6/12/08! The other features will be developed and placed on line just as soon as they become available! Well, just like that our first discussion has taken place and one thing you will no doubt notice as you visit my auctions is that I am not a very good speller, however, I try to "make that up" in other areas! When our website goes "hot" in a few days and our auctions on ebay get up and running, well talk more!
