Archive - July 2007 TRANSFORMERS Movie review! 'A'Posted Jul-17-07 16:28:19 PDT Wow! Seriously, what more can u ask for? I grew up in the 1980s playing with these toys. I loved the cartoons. All of us fans imagined a live-action movie but thought it impossible to pull it off.....but glory be! Michael Bay did the impossible! Not only did he deliver the goods!..... Not only did he make the robots seem 'real'!.... Not only did he incorporate the classic transforming 'sound', and use the original Optimus Prime voice!.... But most importantly - THE MOVIE WAS NOT CHEESY! It had just enough summer-fun comedy to offset the world in danger peril. A few tongue-in-cheek zingers; a couple of inside jokes (the new Camaro Bumblebee shoves a VW beetle out of the way to get Sam's attention! awesome!) It was basic slam-blam-glam summer action fun! it was based on the beloved toys of millions of fans, and it was absolutely PERRRRRRFECT! I couldn't have dreamed of anything better for the ULTIMATE CARTOON/TOY movie adaptation! The Bumblebee 'upgrade' definitely worked, given the storyline. yes, a VW Beetle would've been cute; but 'cute' was the 1980s! Here in the immenent danger world we live in in 2007, we'd need a badazz souped-up Camaro to get us around for spying on evil Decepticons! hahaha I'm pretty sure by now all TF fans have basked in the glory of this movie. I plan to go watch it again. and again. and again, while it's on the giant screen. Action: A+ Story: A- (Megatron doesn't get busy until later in the movie) FX: A++! Acting: B (Some actors managed to stay unbelievably clean throughout multiple battles) Overall: A+ (hey, its a SUMMER MOVIE!) |
