Wow...We are almost half way through the year already!  eBay LIVE in Las Vegas was a tremendous trip, and very educational.  One of the things we learned as we spoke to many of you was that we were not alone in feeling the effects of soft bidding.  Since the switch got flipped in February (sif-in-core), things have not been the same.  We understand that it was switched back in Mar/Apr - but we have gotten feedback from customers and other ebay sellers that suggest a lot of buyer frustration and confusion nonetheless. 

In addition, we have seen a 25% drop in bidding since then.  The last 4 weeks have been perhaps the worst of the year.  This is devastating - and we have asked ebay to do something NOW to bring back the bidders...

Are you feeling the pain?  Obviously as sellers, it would help if we would commit to buying from each other more frequently, but c'mon...ebay, please stir up the bidder pot!

THE INTERVIEW

For the interview, keep things very buttoned-down. A recent survey indicates that 51% of hiring employers consider “non-traditional interview attire” a strong negative influence on their hiring decision. Assuming you’re going to be wearing a suit, you can’t go wrong with a classic pair of black dress shoes. Remember it’s probably not bad to be a little more conservative for the interview and go with classic leather sole over rubber.

Always remember to keep your shoes polished and your heels unscuffed.  And remember, your friends are all getting married soon, so you’ll get your money’s worth out of a nice pair.

WEEKLY WEAR

Once you’ve landed the job, you can probably dress down a bit from your interview, as you want to be known for your performance, not your footwear. You’ll want a couple of pair  in various colors, but you still want to keep a professional look that will be in step with your office.

Accounting Firm/Office Job
This is probably a traditional office. Keep it simple, black, brown or oxblood work the best.

High Tech Company/ Advertising agency
You may have a little more latitude here. Think a little outside the box. Try something sportier or with a heavier sole.

Investment Bank
You’re in the world where appearance is everything, and different is not necessarily good. You’re making decent money so let it show on your feet.

CASUAL FRIDAY

Here’s your chance to show your funky side. Try something athletic-inspired that will go with your khakis or jeans and show that you’re not always Mr. Shirt and Tie.
