The Yankees WILL turn things around!!

The New York Yankees have had their ups and downs. They have been in the World Series for a number of years and then they have had a bout with the Playoffs for the past few years. One thing I do know for sure is that THIS is the LAST YEAR that our Yankees will ever play in the Old Yankee Stadium. They will make this one of the best years that they've ever had. And their fans will do good to remember that this is the last year that they can honor their heroes - Babe Ruth, Yogi Berra, Joe DiMaggio, Lou Gehrig, and so many others, inside this old stadium. It is filled with fond memories and even though it is the last year that this stadium stands, the memories that took place there will last forever. I myself am attending quite a few games this year to show honor and respect for those who have lived and breathed Yankee Stadium. It was their heritage, their life, their courage and strength that made these memories that we cherish today.

It is only April and we have many months to go until the Playoffs. I am and always have been a true believer in the New York Yankees. Even with the injuries that they endure, the team always seems to compensate and overcome. The players and current stadium are an entity that so many of us only dream about. That is why we go there...whether win or lose... we will become part of that significant history.

Yankees game, Torre and Mattingly

Jeter made some beautiful moves today and so did A-Rod. Matsui with his home runs and Cano with his base hits and high catches, the Yankees seem to be moving from a home-run hit team to a base-run hit team, which is more practical. Let's face it, you can't hit a home run all the time, but I love when Jeter looks for that space in the infield and hits the ball right through it to the outfield. Always follow the captain! He glides with grace and brilliantly, confidently leads our team to victory.

AND of course we cannot forget Chien-Ming Wang with his 5 hitless innings!!! 6' 4" and incredible!!! Who could not love baseall?? Posada's back behind the mask as catcher and Girardi is back from his upper respiratory illness...... I admit, I was hesitant about Girardi. You have to be after being with and devoting yourself to Torre for 12 years, but seeing Girardi stand up and actively into the game... a different angle he has taken, a young angle, along the lines of Chamberlain and Hughes. Maybe this team needed a turn-over after all, but call me an old-fashoined gal because I still miss my Joe Torre and Don Mattingly. I pray that both you and yours are well, because MANY Yankee fans miss you both, Joe and Don. I remember being young (almost 10) and going to one of my first Yankee games. Mattingly was at bat and my father stood up and yelled, "I love you Mattingly!" Of course, being in New York, another fan yelled, "Homo!" but it was then that I realized the love that my father had for that player and this team. I realized that something larger than life was happening before me. No, it wasn't my father becoming gay, he loved my mother but it was larger than that! It was legends being born in Yankee Stadium. It was idols, just simply men though, being honored and loved for their talent, skill, intellect, impulsiveness, executive decisions and success. It was to become my second home and my second family, the Yankees at Yankee Stadium.

So THANK YOU to the Yankees throughout the years, especially Torre, Mattingly, and Jeter, for making my family so happy and my memories so outstanding that I'll never forget those games and my younger years.

you may add any Yankees comment you want

I have started this blog because of a few reasons. One is that the Yankees are my favorite team and always have been. Two, I began to realize that there are Yankees fans all over the world who actually fly into New York for Yankees games! I've had customers from the UK, Denmark, Italy, Japan, China, Puerto Rico, Costa Rico, and Canada.

So I just thought it would be a nice idea and appropriate to let you all put your two cents in about the players, their performance, the new coaching staff, and any other aspects. It will be interesting to hear what others have to say and their perspective of the team and the Yankee experience.

So say whatever you want. Just please don't curse or say anything inappropriate. We're all adults here and should act accordingly since this is for public eyes. Let's keep it rated PG people, or PG-13 at least. :)

Yankees Opening Day

Cabrera was on his toes that night- the night it DIDN'T rain- and helped us win the Opening Day game. My favorite player, Matsui, brought us a run in the seventh inning which made us lead over the Blue Jays. And Joba and Mo did their parts by leading us at the end of the game with the highest score.

Surprisingly to me, this year the Toronto Blue Jays were more of a formidable opponent then ever before. Catching us all off guard with their excellent pitching and making our boys actually work for their score. But I'm happy in the end that we won the series 2-1.
