So.... i puked on my way to my first day of work at Gwinnett Place Honda. suffice it to say that i am a ball of crackling nerves. working in close proximity to all these people that i already know personally is very nervewracking. no, wait--let me rephrase that: always being around danny, challs, and charlie and hearing them perpetually gabbing about work and cars and sales and finance and apr and money down and trade-in value has, in a way, inadvertently pre-familiarized me with the basics of the slimy business of vehicle sales. [slimy adj. pleasant and friendly in an insincere way]. i know what terms like "mini deal" and "cheese deal" and the ultimate "full pop" signify monetarily and i know that "tire kickers" are a waste of freakin time and time is money in car sales. and i must admit that i now believe that hondas are the greatest automotives in the world. *hangs head in shame* well now, i am submerging myself in a world of which i always had a front-row view. To me, that kind of change is unnerving and a little bit overwhelming! i mean, today Bell took me around to meet some Hondabots [Hondabots n. A Honda employee who works mechanically without original thought, especially one who responds automatically to the commands of others]--i realized i already knew or had heard about each person whose hand i shook. as he introduced me to Kristian, Rodney, Kwon--i quickly made the mental connections between their names and their faces. it was strange and exciting.
newsflash: challs found a black widow spider in the garage. we're all dead if it gets into our shoes! he just went outside to kill it. i shall keep my ears perked for a loud manly shriek while i blog away from the safety of my bed.
fittingly, on my first day of work, my sister decided that she'd like to come in and buy a car. as she told our girlfriend suzanne, "i need to drop by honda and pick up a car and go back to studying for my exam on wednesday." pick up a car like it's a dress at the dry cleaners or something. she looked at two door civics and four door civics....EXL and EX. they are selling like hotcakes--because of gas prices, civics are GOLD. in fact, she couldn't even get one today because all the two door EXLs were sold out and there was only one 4-door EX and one 4-door EXL left on the whole lot and she didn't like the colors left. but do you know what? she is probably going back to honda to grab the last civic on thursday anyway, because no other car has a better resell value right now.
