How Britney's Second Psychiatric Hold Went Down...

How Britney's Second Psychiatric Hold Went Down...

Britney SpearsTMZ has broken story after story in the middle of the night, detailing the second commitment of Britney Spears that occurred in the last few hours. For all of you who have just logged on, here's a summary:

Last night, Britney's new psychiatrist went to her home and felt she was a danger to herself and others -- partly because of her reckless driving and partly because of her "downhill behavior." As a result, the shrink launched a plan (days in the making) to have Britney committed to UCLA Medical Center by calling the cops.

Sources tell us the cops knew it was coming. In fact, the plan was for cops and paramedics to take Britney away the night before, but it was scrubbed. Last night, it all went down according to plan. Cops even used code to minimize craziness in transporting Britney to the hospital. Over the police radio, she was referred to as "The Package."

Before the cops arrived, the shrink told her she was going back to the hospital and she offered no resistance. She said, "Is something wrong?" She made hot chocolate and waited. Her mom, Lynne, got extremely agitated, accusing Sam of engineering the impending commitment. We're told Brit told her to "shut the hell up." She demanded silence, sat on the floor and wrote notes to people who were there as they waited. When emergency personnel arrived, Brit went on the gurney without resistance.

Click to play!

When everyone arrived at UCLA, things got heated. Jamie Spears began screaming at Sam Lutfi, accusing him of trying to control Britney. We're told as far as the doctors are concerned -- at least for now -- Lynne and Jamie Spears are not calling the shots. The point guy for the docs is Brit's friend, Sam Lutfi.

Sources say after Britney's commitment earlier this month, she was extremely upset at her dad for getting angry at Sam and the hospital staff. Britney had lawyers draft several documents, however, we're told she did not sign a durable power of attorney giving Lutfi the power to make medical decisions on her behalf. Nevertheless, something was signed and doctors are going to Lutfi for guidance.

Jamie went off on Lutfi in the hallway, accusing him of trying to control his daughter. Britney has been calm in the hospital, even getting a "cigarette break."

Trashy Brit -- click to launchWe're told during the initial 72-hour stay she cannot be forced to take medication against her will. If, however, she refuses to take the meds, the plan is for the psychiatrist to go to court and have Britney held for an additional 14 days, during which time he could administer proper medications.

As TMZ first reported, Britney has already been diagnosed with a bipolar disorder and has sporadically taken her medication. But one source says the meds just aren't doing the trick...Oh, and get this. Lynne Spears drove to the hospital tonight with Brit's pap friend Adnan!

Stay tuned....There is more to come...Woohoo!

eBay Buyers Save Billions Per Year, Study Says...

eBay Buyers Save Billions Per Year, Study Says...

EBay, Inc. (NASDAQ: EBAY) users can be a frugal lot -- and they're used to saving a bundle as they buy things through the site. In fact, new and independent research shows that eBay buyers save billions of dollars each year using the world's largest online auction site.

The research from the University of Maryland states that eBay buyers saved $7 billion compared to the amount the group was willing to pay for the items they ended up winning. So, if an eBay buyer was willing to pay $100 for a home appliance and he or she won the bid for $65, that's a "savings" of $35 from the buyer's perspective.

The data was from buyer purchases in 2003, which is somewhat dated in my opinion. But the researchers applied the same measurement methodology to 2004 eBay buyer data and found a "savings" of $8.4 billion. Applying the logic to 2007 data, buyers "saved" in the arena of $19 billion last year. This "consumer surplus" calculation would make one think eBay will never fade if buyers are facing billions and billions in "savings" every year using the auction site --
regardless of how some sellers feel.

eBay Bans Sellers From Leaving Negative Feedback For Buyers...WTF?

eBay Bans Sellers From Leaving Negative Feedback For Buyers...

eBay is making sweeping changes to its Feedback program, including prohibiting sellers from leaving negative or neutral feedback ratings for buyers. The changes come a year after eBay introduced controversial Detailed Seller Ratings (DSRs) in which buyers are able to leave anonymous ratings for sellers based on four criteria.

eBay will announce today that beginning in May, sellers will no longer be able to leave negative or neutral Feedback for buyers. eBay said the current system prevents buyers from leaving honest Feedback as they fear retaliation from the sellers if they leave a negative. "This makes it hard for buyers to distinguish between sellers while making bidding or buying decisions. In addition, when buyers receive negative Feedback, they reduce their activity in the marketplace, which in-turn harms all sellers."

While this will be highly controversial, sellers may be pleased at one part of the changes: eBay will remove Negative and Neutral Feedback left by members who are suspended or who fail to respond to the Unpaid Item Process (deadbeats). Negative or neutral Feedback left by currently suspended members will be removed in late May/June. eBay is also increasing the number of buyers a seller can block from 1000 to 5000.

In addition, buyers and sellers will be able to earn up to one Feedback rating per week from the same trading partner beginning in February in order to encourage repeat transactions and reward good service - another change sellers may welcome.

Positive Feedback percentage will be based on the past 12 months of Feedback, rather than lifetime. Buyers must wait three days before leaving negative or neutral Feedback, and instead of 90 days, members will be able to leave Feedback for 60 days.

eBay's rationale for the changes are:

One, Buyers will be more honest when they leave Feedback since they will not fear retaliatory negative Feedback.

Two, Buyers will bid more and higher since their trust in the Feedback system and the sellers will increase.

Three, Our best performing sellers will be able to differentiate themselves from all other sellers and increase the amount of business they receive as buyers gravitate towards them.

Four, Sellers will leave Feedback upon payment more often in order to increase their chance of receiving positive Feedback.

Archivist Accused of Stealing Artifacts...Sold On eBay!

Archivist Accused of Stealing Artifacts...

NEW YORK (Jan. 29) - A state archivist was charged with stealing hundreds of artifacts — documents representing "the heritage of all Americans," according to the history buff who found some of them on eBay — to pay his household bills.

Davy Crockett almanac

Bryan Smith, ZUMA Press

'Stealing The Legacy Of The State' Though it's unclear how much money Lorello made, officials said he made $5,000 from two sales of Davy Crockett almanacs.

______________________________________________

Daniel Lorello, 54, is accused of taking the rare items from the New York State Library, including Davy Crockett Almanacs, Currier and Ives lithographs and the 1865 railroad timetable for Abraham Lincoln's funeral train. Authorities believe he hawked them for tens of thousands of dollars, using much of that to pay off his daughter's credit card debt.

"This crime is especially repugnant, because it's dealing with historic documents," state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo said Monday. "It's literally stealing the legacy of the state of New York page by page."

Lorello, an archives and records management specialist in the New York Department of Education, pleaded not guilty Monday to charges of grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and scheme to defraud and was released on his recognizance. He faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.

In a handwritten statement released by Cuomo's office, Lorello said he took "more than 300 or 400 items in 2007 alone."

He said he "particularly liked" artifacts associated with the Revolutionary, Civil and Mexican wars, World War I, black Americana and "anything related to the Roosevelts and Jewish items."

Officials found hundreds of documents and artifacts in Lorello's home over the weekend. Authorities believe the theft goes back to 2002, although it accelerated in 2007.

"I took things on an as-needed basis to pay family bills, such as house renovations, car bills, tuition and my daughter's credit card problem," Lorello wrote.

He said he took many items last year because his daughter "unexpectedly ran up a $10,000 credit card bill."

Lorello also said his theft increased after he learned that surveillance cameras were to be installed in the library.

Joseph Romito, a Virginia attorney and avid history buff, tipped off authorities after he saw one of the items, a four-page letter from Vice President John Calhoun written in 1823, listed on eBay.

"I wanted to identify the recipient of the letter," said Romito, who researched the document and discovered it belonged to the state library.

"These kinds of items ... represent the heritage of all Americans," Romito said. "I am gratified that I had some small part to play in it." The attorney general's office placed the winning bid of about $1,800 on Calhoun's letter.

"We're working on recovering those documents sold on eBay," Cuomo said, noting that investigators planned to review Lorello's sales records. "We're asking the traders to please check their collections."

Lorello, who began working at the state archives in 1979, was placed on administrative leave from his $71,732-a-year job. He made no comment as he left court and messages left on his answering machine were not immediately returned.

It's unclear how much Lorello made from his sales. In some cases he went to trade shows and exchanged the stolen items for others, authorities said. But officials said in just two sales of Davy Crockett Almanacs — popular 19th-century pamphlets about the frontier hero's exploits — he received more than $5,000.

Growing Pains...Difficult Times

Difficult Times

Growing Pains
Difficult Times

It can be very challenging to maintain a positive attitude and a measure of faith when you are in the midst of difficult times. This is partly because we tend to think that if the universe loves us we will experience that love in the form of positive circumstances. However, we are like children, and the universe is our wise mother who knows what our souls need to thrive better than we do.

Just as a young child does not benefit from getting everything she wants, we also benefit from times of constriction and difficulty to help us grow and learn. If we keep this in mind, and continue to trust that we are loved even when things are hard, it helps us bear the difficult time with grace.

This period of time in history is full of difficulty for a lot of human beings, and you may feel less alone knowing you are not being singled out. There are extreme energy changes pulsing through the universe at every level and, of course, we are all part of the growing process and the growing pains.

It helps if we remember that life is one phase after another and that this difficult time will inevitably give way to something new and different. When we feel overwhelmed we can comfort ourselves with the wise saying: This too shall pass.

At the same time, if you truly feel that nothing is going right for you, it’s never a bad idea to examine your life and see if there are some changes you can make to alleviate some of the difficulty. Gently and compassionately exploring the areas giving you the most trouble may reveal things you are holding onto and need to release: unprocessed emotions, unresolved transitions, or negative ways of looking at yourself or reality.

As you take responsibility for the things you can change, you can more easily surrender to the things you can’t, remembering all the while that this phase will, without doubt, give way to another.

I MAY OR MAY NOT BUY your item, I DO NOT buy clothing. I want the guides to help you but I also want an item to help me.

Thank You - Sammie

False Pretenses...Go Figure...

You know...I wasnt really going to bother with you, or this topic...

But, I am really disgusted that you would pull this crap, every so often...When you are questioned about it...You get butt hurt and don't want any drama...So why is that?...You post a blog and offer false hopes and make empty promises...You think no ones gonna notice or get pissed off at you?...I guess you had it all wrong!

Remember This Comment, That I Left You?

healthyjerky4u (583) A couple of months ago, I voted "yes" on all of your reviews and you did not purchase anything from me...I personally do not think that this is a very positive way to get votes...This is also not a very honest way to get some honest real valued opinions regarding your guides and reviews...

Just my two cents...Take it how you want it...

Have a nice day...

selectinventory (1843) Healthy jerk, I do not force anyone to vote, most people read the reviews and tell me that I do not have to buy, they learn a lot from them which is the point of a review. I will also note that I also enjoy communicating and looking at what people are sellin
