Haute Tamale rocks!

Thanks to the wonderful templates and helpful advice from Haute Tamale, I now have listings that are much more eye-catching!  I have been wanting for ages to be able to have cool listings like all the other kids, lol!  Now I can do it too, and I am so happy with them!  In fact, I have kind of gotten hooked on them, I think I am bidding on my 5th template from Shawna!

I was on a bit of a sewing binge recently, evidenced by the listing spree I just went on!  I still have tons more to get done, but I am working on it.  Every day for nearly 2 weeks has been random sunshine, but mostly gloomy skies and intermittent downpours and thunderstorms.  The only good thing about it is that it keeps me cooped up in the sewing room so I actually get something done!

I am trying to get a whole lot sold, need to pay for several things that are pricey, but necessary, such as getting my daughter's dog Lucky spayed and fixing the backyard fence so our 2 dogs don't get out!  I live in constant fear of them getting out of the yard, and can't wait to get that section of fence replaced!

In closing, I must recommend 2 of my fellow Ebayers for their excellent products and service.  For templates especially go to Haute Tamale!  And for elastic and such, my favourite seller is fr8rain.  I have bought numerous items from both and they are the best!

Well, off I go, either to list something else or to the sewing room to create something else!

Have a great weekend!

The dog days of summer have come early

We are having a hot summer this year for sure, by the first week of June, the temperatures and humidity were already soaring!  For days on end we have had temperatures of 40 degrees Celcius, and that is HOT!  I guess we shouldn't complain, since as time goes on, we only have 2 seasons...summer and winter, and for some reason winter last for 9 months and summer for 3, lol!

I have been a busy little bee in the sewing room lately, and am anxious to get a whole lot more listed on here.  The hot weather has inspired me to make clothes that are perfectly tailored for the heat.  Wish I could get away with wearing half of it!  I am doing more plus size items though, and am hoping to get more of those up for auction in the next few days as well.

For now, I am going to the kitchen to make some macaroni salad!  I hate the thought of even turning on the stove in this heat, but at least pasta cooks fast!  And the advantage is...a nice cold supper!

Off I go (slowly)!

I really need to learn more about how to blog!

I see everyone blogging on here, and I wish I was a bit more proficient in it myself!  I am having the hardest time learning how and where to promote my items to steer traffic my way!

Anybody have any tips on doing this?  I will be selling lots of stuff from my seriously overcrowded house, but my main focus is on clothing and accessories, most of which I make myself, either from scratch or using recycled clothing.  I have so much to learn!

One of my favourite items lately is my giraffe dress, it is so cute!  I wish it fit me, I would keep it!  I have a bunch of band shirts to revamp, so in the near future I will have lots more tops and dresses made from revamped rock t-shirts.

My Dad is encouraging my daughter and I to get into doing doggie clothing now too, which we are really interested in.  And I really want to do stuff for the bigger dogs, my daughter's dog Lucky being the inspiration for that.  She loves to look pretty, but you go to places like PetSmart and most of the clothing is of the teacup size, which is of no use to us!  Big dogs like to look fashionable too you know!

Well, I am off to get hubby off to work and then collapse, as I have had no sleep!  Maybe a few hours of shut-eye will let me get back to the sewing machine!

Peace,

Kim

Happy Easter!

Well, it may be cold (-3 C), but it was sunny all day, so we had a really good Easter.  They say this is the earliest it has come along since 1818!  Spring is supposedly here, so lets hope for the best!

I did not get any sewing done today, just concentrated on having a good Easter dinner, and then frankly just laid around, lol!  Did watch 2 movies, they weren't too bad.

Hoping to get back to the sewing room though, I found a great vintage Care Bears twin size bed sheet that I am dying to make a nightgown out of.  I thought it would be so cute!  I made the babydoll jammies out of a Star Wars sheet, so I thought why not?  I also have a great Harry Potter sheet that I will also likely turn into babydoll jammies or a nightie.  At this rate, I could do a whole line of jammies from popular character bedsheets!  The beauty of it is, because they are vintage and have been used, the cotton is so soft, they will be the comfiest jammies ever.

Does anyone else think that there needs to be more plus size DIY style clothing for women out there?  I have made mostly misses sizes myself, but I was thinking of going one step further and doing more tube tops, corset shirts, tank tops, skirts, etc for the curvier gals (like myself!).

I am also surprised to see that things like ponchos are not much bigger sellers on Ebay.  Are they starting to die out again already?  I don't care, I still love them, and as far as I am concerned, they are staying in my wardrobe!

Well, guess I should get some sleep, then tackle that sewing room!  I have some stuff that I can sell on Ebay that is supplies that I really don't need, and someone else could probably create like crazy with this fabric and the trims that I have, so I think I should hurry up and get them up there!

Happy Spring everyone!

At Last! Sunshine!

Finally!  A nice bright sunny day!  It is cool out (-3), but the sunshine more than makes up for it.  The snow is receding slowly, and spring is finally making an appearance!

Because of Easter Sunday being tomorrow, I have to go out and run some errands today, but I am itching to get into my sewing room and get busy!  I am lucky, my sewing machine is sitting right by the window, and the glorious sun just beams right in on me when I am sitting there!

I have such a stash in my sewing room, that while I was in there today, I discovered things I had forgotten that I even had.  Which was exciting, because it means I have stuff to work with that will be great to put up for auction here on Ebay, and it will be a nice wide variety.  And of course I am thinking spring, sunshine and warm weather!

My mind is going a million miles an hour, with all the projects in mind that I want to tackle!  First on my list are babydoll pyjamas.  The cute little jammies like the ones the girls wore at the sleepover in the movie Grease.  When we were younger, we loved those kind of pyjamas, wore them all summer long!  And I have some great ideas in mind for making them original and one of a kind, so watch out!

Isn't spring wonderful?

Happy Easter everyone!
