Hill Country Taxidermy is a small business owned and operated by a husband and wife team in San Antonio,Tx. We are both avid hunters, me with my rifle and Robert with his bow and rifle both. That interest seemed to stem towards taxidermy also, so Robert took a certified taxidermy course and we both joined the Texas Taxidermy Association to further our education. 5 years later we are still enjoying hunting (I'm getting better with a bow!) but unfortunately taxidermy and hunting don't mesh as well as you would think. Now our hunting season is painfully short since that is our busiest time of year. Most of our hunts center around some of the exotic species roaming around the Texas Hill Country area north of San Antonio. Those of you not from this area might be suprised at the number of African, Asian, and European animals that thrive in our natural habitat. Axis deer, Aodad, Fallow deer, and Sika just to name a few. As a result, a large percentage of our work is exotics, which there is no season on. You can hunt these year round as long as you have a license. If I can figure out how to post pictures of some of our more interesting mounts I would like to include them. We strive for the most natural look possible and attempt to retain the beauty and dignity of the animal that it had in life. (We don't creat things like "deer rump doorbells" etc. )

I'm always willing to answer what questions I can about the way we do taxidermy and taxidermy in general. We belong to a community of taxidermist who are good-hearted and hard working people who are always willing to help. Most of our education and improvement has come from taking seminars and competing.I would reccommend anyone interested in taxidermy do the same.
