Filming is currently taking place in the province of Colón, north of the capital city. 700 Panamanian extras have been  hired for the shoot.

Shooting with the principal cast in Panama is expected to last until Thursday 21st February.

*Daniel Craig has teased readers of Total Film with a hint that the plot of the new James Bond film "Quantum of Solace" will reference some real-world parallels.

"We're not out to make some bold political statement, but there is something in this movie that we're keen to put across: a twist.", he said.

"I don't want to say too much about it, but yes, if you're going to make a spy movie then you have to refer the world outside. The odd thing is, the way the spying and intelligence world is behaving right now, it's beyond any movie plot."

*In a snippet from the new issue of Total Film (that has been released with 21 covers, one for each of the official James Bond films), producer Michael G. Wilson has revealed an interesting tidbit.

On the subject of the gunbarrel sequence, which was changed for Casino Royale and did not feature as the opening shot of the movie, Wilson said, "we'll probably go back to the traditional style"
      
Replying to all the media hype surrounding Amy Winehouse and a possible singer/song-writer role for the new film "Quantum of Solace", Wilson said, "she could do a wonderful job. We'll have to wait and see if she can do it."

*"Quantum of Solace" producers, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, denied reports today in the UK newspaper The Daily Star that filming had been affected by violent protests in Panama City.

In a joint statement they said:

"The filming of 'Quantum of Solace', with director Marc Forster at the helm, is on schedule and will continue as planned in Panama. None of the cast or crew have ever been in danger. Reports of troubles with gangs are untrue. The protests are to do with the fatal shooting of a construction worker in Colon and are unrelated to our filming activities. Our cast and crew have not been threatened and no thefts or muggings have occurred."

The producers added, "These scurrilous and irresponsible reports in The Daily Star have caused distress to the UK families of our filming unit."

*Photographer Greg Williams will return to chronicle the making of the latest James Bond film in pictures.

Williams, who photographed both "Die Another Day" and "Casino Royale" for their "Bond On Set" books has been confirmed to produce the title for the 22nd 007 outing "Quautum of Solace".

If the previous two books are anything to go by, the 144-page edition will be packed with rare and insightful pictures from behing the scenes.

"Bond On Set: Filming Quantum Of Solace" is expected to be released on September 15th 2008 and will retail for $20.00 in the USA.

*A-list actor Al Pacino has been rumoured to be filming a brief role in the 22nd James Bond film "Quantum of Solace"??
