The last few weeks on eBay had been going pretty well.I had to start dipping into stuff that I'd really not been wanting to part with just yet.I knew it would sell I'd just been hoping to have it in my life a little longer. I never really started collecting with the intention to resell it.It's just sort of turned out that way recently. As usual there's drama with a buyer. She claims the teapot looked a different color in the photo. I clearly described it as Chartreuse which we all know is a bright lime green color and NOT darker like an olive or shamrock green. She claims she thought it was "Olive" green which she claimed is rarer. Fiesta has never put out an olive green. I'm not doubting that it may have appeared darker on her monitor but wouldn't it vary slightly anyway? Then she sends an email saying how upset she is with the color and made it sound like I'd been deceptive in the description. Excuse me for thinking that a true Fiestaware fan would know exactly what the difference between chartreuse and shamrock was.I'm not trying to sound sarcastic, honestly. It just bothers me when people don't have their facts right. Zero HourPosted Jun-02-08 14:51:10 PDT Why do people wait until the very last few minutes to start asking questions on things that have been listed for a week? Do they honestly think I have nothing better to do than sit around waiting for them? Selling on eBay is turning into a part time job for me lately. When I say part time I mean that I do have an actual daytime job that takes priority over eBay.That's the one that pays the bills. Ocassionally I get a chance to check my email at the regular gig and therefore get a chance to catch all those last minute questions but that is typically not the case. I have stuck to my guns about the no international shipping and people STILL ask if I can ship to somewhere outside the U.S. Maybe I'm losing a sale on that but I've been burned one too many times! Now it appears I may need to add more info in my listings stating something to the effect "if you have questions-ask them early". Buy It Now!Posted May-28-08 09:05:39 PDT Having lost money too many times over postage and other issues I'd finally had enough of getting burned. In the past I'd enjoyed starting my bids out extremely low just to see what happened.About 90% of those times I ended up losing out.So now I'm starting out at what the items are actually worth (or were at the time I bought them),and since most of my stuff is still in original packaging it should still at least retain it's original value.Call me jaded but I just can't continue losing money now, especially with eBay's seemingly endless fees.I paid them off last week, relisted some stuff and suddenly it's back up to a $40 bill again!.It seems to never end. So at the advice of a fellow seller I have started using "Buy It Now" and have had decent luck with it so far.I'd done it in the past but now it seems to work out better.Maybe people are getting their rebate checks finally.I don't know but am extremely grateful-for them and for the folks that comment on my blogs. It's always good to get a fresh perspective on the whole situation. There's still drama though. The person whose package got sent back now wants a refund.I'm fine with that but she must only check her email weekly.I asked for a confirmation of her email address and haven't heard back yet.I think she was upset that I asked for more money to have it sent back.I think it's her fault for having a bad address on file with PP-Although she claims the one she supplied is accurate.Really? then why did it come back? Not that it matters much but she seemed upset that the shipping was going to be more than the $5 she paid for the item.Maybe she hasn't been to the post office lately. Enjoy The SilencePosted May-22-08 09:09:56 PDT Being a small seller sucks.Being as how I already have a full time day job I have to limit how many auctions I post weekly. My limit is 20 now.I've made the mistake of listing too many in the past and it almost got outta control. At least I learned that lesson. Now it seems almost every week is yet another challenge or obstacle to overcome.Last week it was not charging enough for postage and the post office destroying another package. This time I end up getting a box returned marked "wrong address".I'm glad it at least came back to me and I notified the buyer but here comes the bad part-she waited until the last possible second to pay the first time and never answered any of my emails.I told her that I could either refund her money-or if she still wants it,pay extra to have me resend it.Now I guess I run the risk of getting negative feedback from her. I'm just getting really aggravated with biting the bullet every time on postage! I refuse to do it anymore. As I'm mailing stuff out a few days ago I tell the postal clerk "if it's light enough I want it sent FIRST CLASS" (otherwise Priority). So he does it right for the first few boxes and then I notice on my receipt later that he sent something someone bought for $4 via priority! and it was well below 11 ounces so I was taking yet ANOTHER loss. It's getting to the point where it's almost not worth my while to bother listing anything. This week might be one of those.20 Items listed and no bids thus far. Feedback Would Be AppreciatedPosted May-18-08 09:19:02 PDT I don't know how many others out there feel this way but I'm sure there are many. What is the deal with people who don't ever leave feedback? You know you went out of your way to make sure the item is properly packed and in the condition described only to never hear another thing about it.The only reason I even mention it is because I know my feedback score would probably be about 500 by now if everyone had left feedback. So now I leave it after they do so first.Sometimes it's within a few days but I've had instances where nothing got posted until MONTHS later!.I've read other's comments and let me tell ya-some of that negative stuff gets downright ugly!.I have only ever left negative comments after I've exhausted every other effort (and I've only done it a handful of times).Maybe they want to leave an ugly remark and are just afraid? More often than not if they've been mad they email me first (the action figure that got mangled in the mail recently). Now rumor has it that the seller can't leave negative feedback for the buyer? That seems rather unfair since I've had more harsh words thrown at me lately for mistakes that weren't mine.So we're supposed to just lay back and take it when they screw us over? |
