The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid have set up manditory testing for MRSA in the ER and pre-surgical procedures in the hospital environment. Do it or don't get paid! Check out the websites with the information WebMd, Centers for Disease, and the World Health Organization. Believe it or not the world is now focusing on elimination and treatment of these medicine resistant germs. The biggest problem with these particular germs is that as soon as a medication is introduced the germ adapts and becomes resistant. Just about everybody has the MRSA germs in their nose and/or skin. It does not become a problem until there is an opening for the germ to enter or resistance is low because of an illness. The biggest protection is hand washing. It is not imperative to have a bacterial soap as it is to wash throughly and recite the alphabet song while washing. Of course, keep your hands always from your nose, mouth, and eyes. Hand sanitizer with Ethyl Alcohol is recomment by the FDA. Don't be fooled by products that claim 99.9% germ elimation, those claims are for common germs. Remember that germs can stay on surfaces for up to two weeks. Most germs are only on the surface for a few hours. Germs from a cough can spread up to six feet away. Use a mask when coughing. Use a good sanitizing spray on hard surfaces, sanitizing wipes on door handles, keyboards, toys, telephones, and on surfaces that cannot be sprayed. Wash bedding after an illness.
