Most Recent Posts Powerseller selling tactics and techniques - how to make profit monthly not dailyPosted Apr-29-07 12:05:24 PDT Hi everyone, Today I'd like to talk about ebay selling techniques and how to make profit overall for the month instead of each day.By now most of you should know that not everthng you have will sell. And most struggle to sell even 50% of what they put up! But you know what, thats how the ebay business goes. On eBay you have to look at selling in a different way then the regular selling in stores or websites. You have a time limit on ebay and you must pay each time to renew your time limit. That time limit gives you the exposer on ebay to sell your items within the time frame. So, are you asking yourself why aren't my items selling? Or why do I get only 1 sale a week? A month? A Year?? It basicly comes down to this: its a numbers game. The more items you have, the more will sell. The more items you have, the more selection your customers have. When selling on the internet search and keywords are gold. The more items you have, the more keywords and items your customers can search for. You grow your searchability when you sell more items. Ok, well what if you don't have alot of items, or you think the amount you have it good enough? Let me tell you this, if your being cheap when your listing your items...you get what you pay for. Lots of sellers do not realize that when you list your items under "Store Inventory" for those who have ebay stores, you get the worse possible exposer on ebay. Your inventory items when browsed or searched by a customer show up at the bottom of the list and even if you have a gallery picture, it will not display the picture but rather show a little camra icon indicating that you have a picture in your listing. This kind of exposer will get you no where. This is why ebay will allow you 30 days for that 10 cents, because it's nothing, most buyers shop by pictures not text, unless searching for something in particular. I've seen alot of sellers complaining about it being slow and nothing is selling, and when I take a look at there ebay store they have more then 70% of their items in Store Inventory format. That means only 30% of their items are getting the exposer the store needs to sell a decent amount. Listing as auction or buy it now as a regular ebay listing is what sellers need to do. Yes it can get pricey at $1-2 bucks each item, but think of it this way. You have 2 weeks or 14 days to sell your item because if your item sells the 2nd time when you relist it you get a credit for your previous listing fee. This only works if you sell the item thought so be careful. Now alot of sellers think that if they do not profit on each item they will not make money. Wrong. Here is an example: say your selling high priced and profit items. You have 30 items and they cost you $2 bucks each to list on regualar ebay listings, not "Store Inventory". You spent $60 bucks, now say you sell 2 items that were $20 bucks profit each item. So now you have 28 items left, and you spent $60 on listing fees, but got $40 profit on 2 items, another sale will may be even you out and then you'll have 27 items left for pure profit! Sounds easy, but thats only for high priced and high profit items. What about the sellers who make $3-5 bucks profit each item. Well to tell you the truth I cannot say much because I do not have experiance selling small profit items, but I will say this. If your items are small profit, most likey thay are low priced like $10-$20 bucks an item. Those items are even cheaper to list, I think around 60 cents to list those type of items? So your fees will be lower but you will have to sell more, faster to make your profit. I say faster because remeber your on a time limit. Only 7 days to sell that item or 14 days when you relist and sell the 2nd time to get your first listing fees back. So overall stop wasting your time using the Store Inventory to sell items in high demand or your main sellers, use the store inventory to list items that do not move fast or you do not want to spend the money to sell a item that is not worth it, etc. Remember you get what you pay for, use regular ebay listings, relist to chance your item selling the 2nd time and getting your fees back on the previous attempt. Figure out how many items need to sell in order to even out with your fees within the month. Calculate profit monthly not daily. Try these tactics and see how your next month does. If anyone has tactics of their own please share!
