Whats the best way to look after records & CDs?

*double-sided sticky tape sorts out the seams

*lighter fuel to gets off the stickers

*cleaning record vinyl? I'm open to suggestions

*Does using lighter fuel to clean records damage them in the long run? Is there a simpler alternative to soap & water?
