Most Recent Posts Raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through Team In Training - please consider a donation!Posted Dec-15-07 09:28:49 PST Dear Everyone, Who of you has not been touched by cancer? I most certainly have, both personally through family and professionally through my patients. For this reason, when I learned how I could help make more of a difference, I jumped at the chance. Recently, I learned about The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team In Training, the largest endurance training program in the world. With Team in Training, I am preparing to complete the Country Music Marathon in Nashville this April. During this process, I have committed to raising over $2000 to benefit cancer research and to battle this terrible disease. In this personal quest to get closer to a cure for cancer, I am largely encouraged by those who have struggled with this devastating disease. As I train to walk/jog/somehow propel my body over the marathon finish line, I am dedicating my efforts to three people in particular. The first person is Jerri E., one of my mother's closest friends who, unfortunately, lost her lengthy and complicated battle to multiple myeloma (a blood cancer that has its greatest incidence in Blacks) in 2005. My second motivator is my patient Pamela T., who was diagnosed as a teenager with non-Hodgkin' s lymphoma and now, in her thirties, is a vibrant and inspirational cancer survivor!!!! Last but not least, as I journey through this process, I will be largely encouraged by Jennifer M., a charming and resilient 13 year old who is currently undergoing chemotherapy for T- cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, and is under the care of my very good friend Kala, a pediatric oncologist in Houston, Texas. What does this have to do with you, you may ask? I need your help, in the form of donations, to meet my fundraising goal. Please give whatever is on your heart to give, because every cent helps! By the way, your donations are tax-deductible. You can: A) Give online at: http://www.active.com/donate/tntmds/GMoore77 OR B) Email me to find out how to send me a check, made payable to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Thank you in advance for your support, donations, and your contribution towards a cancer cure! With gratitude, Gina |
