12 dogs and a blog - The Voyage of the Bonnie Nell

Tales of Blogland Songs of a Virtual Ocean

An answer to a question or two.

How does 12 dogs and a blog work?

12 dogs and a blog is an interactive story. In each post you'll see words in blue.  These links will take you to different pathways in our blog story.  One of our favorite Gentle Readers said that it was like walking into and exploring someone's mind. She right in a way. My blog takes advantage of the unique characteristics of the virtual world.  We have made a name for it. Nuevo Magico Realism or  the New Magic Realism. I had to literally coin a phrase for it. It is a  kind of mind maze. The internet allows for the "magical experience" of virtually reading a characters mind. You don't just see the words but thanks to the videos and other visual media, you can "see" what I see.  So CLick me please. The blue links might give you additional information about a subject. It might give you a playlist of music, movies, slide shows or any information that could enhance the reading experience. For example,  if I talk about a DVD or book or CD? I might use the blue link to tell you more about the author/singer or even tell you where I got the CD from.

But please note. While this is like entering the mind of a writer, this is 12 dogs and a blog. Fact and fiction reside here.  It's not a real mind but a composite. The blog and the writer is a creation in itself. If you are concerned and don't know which is the fact and which is the fiction. Use the comments or email. Please ask me.  Even though we've not met I like you. I don't want to miss lead you or take advantage of your good nature. So please, if you're worried?  Again, ask.

This is a  real writer's journal.  It's not an advertising agencies ploy folks. It's not a joke either. There really is writer here. Hello. I am independent of anybody. Well except my family and  the ebay censors. I do have to watch the language and subject matter. Which why is that by the way. They have picture of "nekkid chickens" on this site. (LOL Hey Mal aka Saenzmom)  Nobody sends them warnings and deletes them.

How come  I have to keep my clothes on.

Ah well, keep reading. I'll introduce the characters and give you a little background of who they are here at the blog and who they are outside of the world of 12 dogs. Some of these folks are real people. Some only exist here in the virtual ether. But we're all one big happy, disfunctional family here at 12 dogs.

Where do you get your videos, music, written words and other arts works  here at 12 dogs?

Some of it, like Hannah Murphy, is my work. I'm working toward including original video and photography. If anyone would like to colaborate? Call me and I'm there. I'm looking for a photographer to work with. My words. Their photos.

Right Now? If it's not my original work? It's  from exploring the internet and the world.

Two of my favorite places to visit:  YouTube and the LateLateShow with TV's Craig Ferguson.

Places like YouTube for the reasons we all love that site.

For music and social commentary? I  love to watch the LateLateShow with Tv"s Craig Ferguson. I know others might like the Daily Show and Steven. I like Craig.  The LLShow has great music. I especially love it when they feature new groups. Definately not a mainstream  pop show.  I've been asked about the music on the blog. I'm glad to help and promote musicians. Would love to feature new up and coming groups.  So if you know someone who's music I can feature? Email a link or comment. I'll see what I can do. Or if you're selling the music that I feature let me know. I'll give you a "BLUE LINK shout out" for your store. I don't mind.

OH If you would like to be written into 12 dogs let me know. I've done if for fun before. I would love to do this as a courtesy to the sellers of Blogland. To say thank you for putting up with me and my writer's journal.  It's fun for me and since I read ya'lls blogs and buy your stuff? I'd be delighted to see what I can do.

There have also been artists, I'm looking at you Richo , who I'd love to interview. So if you know a talented Ebay artist, visual or other,  please send me a link in comments or ebay email. I would love to interview YOU.

Do you go back and read comments on old blogs?

I do. And I go back and read old blogs too. Sometimes to read the blogs sometimes to edit.

Please note, like life, this blog is under constant revision until that final ultimate rewrite.

I'm going to heaven people so I'm gonna keep living my life until I get it right.

Same for this blog. Rewrite till I get it right.

Just not like Sysiphus.

What is 12 dogs and a blog?

12 dogs is a writer's journal.  I write about fact and fiction here. If you don't know which is which? Ask.

I have my comments turned off  for a reason.  I am alway rewriting what I write here. Your comment might look strange if I do. That would mean having to go find you and explaining. Sometimes? I even recycle the post. That also means more explaining. No fun for either of us.

It's not a book Hula.

(Thank you for the video Hula. Especially the last part. I hope that he is nice.)

Just a wee journal in the middle of the internet. Kind of.

It's what I want it to be and I can change my mind as much and as often as I like.

And in a way it's a conversation too.

It is mine.

What is this traveling companion of which you talk about?

Traveling companion is a literary device. It's like having a conversation with the person who you would like to grow old with. An ideal.  I've met a few that have come close. I really have. But, things just didn't seem to work out. However, that may just have changed. You see there's this guy...

Funny.

As for my real live? Well I have a bit of stuff. And I have a friend or two. A son. And there really are dogs. I live in a kind of strange place. The people are not city people. They value  different things.

Like can you use a wrench and a chainsaw.

That's been interesting.

I'm not a chain saw kind of person. There are folks who can put up a fence faster and better than I ever could. I believe in stimulating the economy by getting them to put up my fence.

Not a fan of DIY.

Me? Well...

If 12 dogs is a writer's journal and you write fiction as well as fact? Which characters are real and which aren't?

Well? WB is real and so is Pup.  My Great Aunt was real  and so was WB's brother. Auntie Slacker is a "character" a real mess and a half. She's that  in a good way. And yes she is real. Billy was real. IrishDavid is real.  JRussellmix is an alterego of someone not me. Hannah Murphy, Well that's a long story. Taloolah is real.  At least as real as someone you meet on the internet can be. I don't know her name or really where she lives. So well such is the  odd reality of Blogland.  The thing about 12 dogs is that if you don't know you should ask. If you assume you could find yer self in a kind of Alice and Wonderland kind of place.

At this moment? I miss Newt.

That's the thing about Blogland. I don't know Newt. I know what Newt wanted me to see. An image like a photograph but without captions. Same could be said about Taloolah.  I see what they want me to see. Sometimes.

I once had someone say that Blogland is fun. Blogland is an addiction. Blogland is a fantasy. Blogland is real.

Guess it all depends on your perspective.

I noticed that your comments are On but Hidden. Do you even read your comment section.  Why comments Hidden?

Well  as I mentioned, the posts can be edited at anytime. I pull up old posts like you would pull up old memories. Re use the post.  Even repurpose the post. This may make your comment irrelevant. I might hurt your feelings. And, with certain exceptions, I hate to delete.

So I've turned the comment section into a kind of virtual eBay answering machine. Type a message. It will disappear but I'll see it. I'll try to respond to your messages. That is if I'm here. It's okay to post on the blog in question but better to post on this post or the most current one. I'll see it.

I used to hope that I'd get a comment from my traveling companion but I've stopped doing that. A part of me still hopes. I am after all an Optimist underneath all this Pessimism. Maybe that is what a Pragmatic is really. An adult Optimist.

I haven't given up.

What you say might alter the story somehow. Who knows.

But note. I'm not having to write everyday. Just when I want to.

This is good but it may take me awhile to respond to your comment.

So you'll know.

Who is Author Ann?

Ah, AuthorAnn. A little bit of Pilgrims Progress? Nope. A traveler through Dante's Inferno. Well somedays.... Author Ann. Wellllll. AuthorAnn is real. I will say that much. Like the blog she's a work in progress. She's nice. Pay's her bills. Believes in God and Oprah I guess. Has happy days and disasters. She's the good angel on my shoulder. The good that keeps me from measuring the distance between the bridge and the river. The me that I should be and try to be.

But then so is AuntieSlacker and Hannah Murphy too.

Not multiple personalities. Not even close. Just different ways to look at life. Different points of view.  Me on different days and  during  different periods of my life.

Author Ann on my right shoulder helps me be the good in life. She is my MiddleAge with Pup.  Hannah on my left shoulder is the human of life.  Hannah is too nice to be a little devil although on her bad days...She is my youth.  And in the middle where the two combine?

The woman I am and hope to become.

Pramatic, romantic, optimistic, pessimistic, loyal yet self interested, a really good friend who is actually good  at life, sometimes... but not limited to those things and under constant revision just like this blog.

I am Auntie Slacker.

And this is?

Tales of Blogland

Songs From a Virtual Ocean

Now,

Back to where you came from > Where does the time go

Or

What did I learn last night...

Dedicated to

WB, Pup, Newt and that fella on the LateLateShow for getting me to laugh again.

That last bit could be a play on words but it's not. He and his writers really did get me to laugh and write again.

I'm grateful.

Even though last night I thought he was a horse's ass.

A cute horse's ass.

But still?

A horses ass.

In case he'd ever lower himself to read my little blog here in the middle of this great big virtual ocean.

Best regards,

Ann

Editing note

12 dogs and a blog is always  subject to revision.  Like life we are always editing until that las final edit.  So you'll know.
