I was all excited, going on a field trip with my local museum. We met at a quarry known for it's fossil trilobites, corals and brachiopods. Surely they would be climbing into my hand, ready to be taken home, and wanting to join my collection. It was hot, they were piles of rocks everywhere, this is usually a working quarry, shut down for the weekend. I rushed around, here, there, no fossil. I found a few pieces of broken coral. After three hours, I was tired! I finally picked up a couple of broken but distinguishable specimens. They would be proudly displayed on my shelf, next to the really good stuff I have purchased.  A nice mix, something I actually collected, alongside the impressive fossils I have bought. Everyone happy.
