Just me....Cindy!!!

I'M SO FRUSTRATED!! Please see my listings!!!

Why in the world do we even put our items out there for more than 3 days?  People don't even start to bid until the last 10 minutes or less!!  As some of you know, my son, Nathan, has been battling an extremely rare lung cancer, and the past two years has taken the toll on him financially!!  He has been reduced to selling his beloved 'Magic the Gathering' card collection...listing about 15 items per week or so.  I've researched the values on each card, then listed them way below those values....I absolutely refuse to list his expensive cards with starting bids of .99 cents...as he has gotten burned several times, with it being the ending bid!!!  The cards were worth over $20 a piece, but yet, had to honor the ending bid price.  And - after ebay and paypal get through with you, you end up giving the card away and being in the negative by a couple of bucks...So, I start the bidding at $1.99 on up to $7.99, depending on the card value. But -- people won't start the bidding!!!!

I just don't know how else to list these cards to attract more buyers, and not cost more to do so!!  My son needs this income to pay on his HUGE medical bills...so, please take a look at my few auctions left out there, and bid folks!!  Bid early and bid often....add me to your favorites and check back weekly!!

Thanks, and God Bless!!!

Cindy

The best thing would be BIN or make a reserve price. I still have watchers on BIN auctions and have sold several. Good Luck!!

I have BIN on each one!!! For instance, a card is worth $20.00...I list it at a BIN price of $16.99 with a starting bid of $7.99, yet it doesn't go!!!
I can't give this stuff away sometimes!!! Yet, they are great cards!!! My son goes to the area MTG games/tournaments almost weekly, and trades off stuff...but we are in a small area and he can only sell so much here!!

Sometimes it takes awhile for the right person to find the item - and 3 days can be too short. BIN for 7 days might be a good idea. Wishing you high bids

im sorry and prayers for your famile.
i put them out for seven days because it gives people a whole week to find my item and decide whether they want it.
7 days seems TOO SHORT to me, lol, but im not willing to pay extra for the ten day listing.
have you ever considered checking out a local card shop or gaming shop or consignment?
you might get some takers there....

I'm so sorry Gorman.....what type of lung cancer? Nathan had an extremely rare lung carcinoid cancer, in the bronchular tube of his right lung. It is so rare, making up less than 1% of all lung cancers!! A 'non-smoking' cancer. Usually occurs in women over 70 years old. At age 25 he was diagnosed, and just one month later, the lung collapsed, sending him to the hospital. The hospital here in Illinois nearly killed him, never dealing with such a rare form of cancer, they didn't know what to do!! They attempted surgery to remove the lung, and just after they got the chest tubes into place, he went into a very rare carcinoid crisis, where his blood pressure went 305/255!!! (faster than a barnyard chicken!!) They had a hard time bringing him back!! He was in a coma for 3 days! 16 days later, he got out of the hospital,(day before thanksgiving) and the doctors wanted to "try again" after the holidays!! I said NO WAY!! We flew him out to Massachussetts....on Dec 2nd, as a friend researched on the internet for doctors who specialize with this rare cancer!! The doctors there at UMASS admitted him immediately, and started the 3 day preparations for his surgery!! They saved his life!! They removed over 2/3rds of his right lung, over 40+ lymphnodes, his 4th rib, and then harvested the latisimus dorsi muscle from his back, pulled it thru the missing rib and attached it to the remaining piece of lung, to hold it up, and protect it! Also, that muscle has it's own blood supply! We were able to come home 7 weeks later!! He then went thru 6 months of intense physical therapy, and monthly scans! Since the cancer had metasticized during that nearly fatal attempt at surgery in Peoria, IL, they had to be certain they got it all!! Traditional Chemo does not work on this type of cancer....only surgery or proton therapy!! His was at a stage 4, too late for the proton therapy, since the lung had already collapsed!! Anyway..he is cancer free right now...and goes for scans

I did some research and found:

Total Sales for the 500 auctions is $9,024.42 .
251 Successful Auctions sold a total of 258 items.
The Average Sales Price (ASP) per Item is $34.98 ($9,024.42 Total Sales / 258 Items Sold).

The Auction Success Rate is 50.20% (251 Successful Auctions / 500 auctions).
The ASP per Auction is $35.95 ($9,024.42 Total Sales / 251 Successful Auctions).

There were 114 Total Sellers, of which 79 had 1 or more sales.
The overall Seller Success Rate was 69.30%.

If you go to 'advanced search' and check 'completed sales', you can see exactly what was sold and what the successful sales (green prices) vs. the unsuccessful (red prices) looked like and what was sold, you may figure out how to get your items sold. If an item has a 50.20 success rate, that is pretty good. good luck. I hope this helps.

As a player for 13 years and a recently new seller, I can tell you that regardless of what the book says they are worth, people will pay higher or lower depending on demand. Take for instance the new set of cards. There are cards that people are paying MORE for than list price. But because the new set came out, people are spending money on those, and good auctions are slipping through the cracks. I got two cards that are 6 bucks each 3 days ago for 7.50 after shipping. That's almost half price. And I bought a sealed gift box that retails at 50 dollars plus tax for 35 after shipping. You never know how its going to go. I CAN tell you that right now is NOT the right time to sell older cards. People are spending money on the new set that just got released on the second, and aren't going to pay attention to the older cards like that.

As for pricing, personally, I open up two other windows. One with MTGfanatic.com and the other with findmagiccards.com I use those sites to decide how much I am willing to bid. I won't bid more than 75% of whatever the lowest price is on websites that have it. If shipping is more than 5.00 over what it would actually cost to ship, I won't bid either. I don't bid on items that have a starting price of over 9.99. (Basically what I'm saying is, if I'm not getting a deal out of it, I won't bid.)
A lot of people try to sell cards that aren't even worth anything. One recommendation is to not even bother putting up cards that are only worth 25 to 50 cents each, unless you sell multiple cards together. Cards that are commons, and he'll know what I mean if you don't, aren't worth the paper they're printed on unless they came out in the first two editions. Anything after that, and you should put them in a big box and sell them as a mixed lot.

Anyways, I know you don't want to lose out on these cards, but maybe you should drop your lower starting price to about 25% of the value. This gives people the chance to bid while st

I have to agree and disagree with the comment above, there's probably just as many extended, vintage, casual etc. Players as there are type 2. Type 2 is only the last two current blocks and latest core set, and extended has a whole mess of blocks that are legal. Realistically, older cards should sell MORE regardless of a new release, just based on options. In my opinion any cause has to do with larger sellers flooding ebay with the newest set, so when people just surf ebay for cards it only yields the latest.

I would try adjusting your title, if you don't already, make sure you have mtg and/or magic in the title, make sure you're listing them under trading card>magic and also open up your listings to international buyers. The majority of my buyers are from spain, italy, the U.K. And Germany.

Hope this helps.
