Adventure starts from 2 universal adaptors

Episode 2 (part 2) - Asus WL-330gE AP

Asus WL-330gE is a palm sized multi-functional wifi AP, router, gateway, repeater, adapter. I have sold a lot of this little machine. I have noticed them because of my brain is still in "traveller mode" and prefer everything compact, powerful, and physically lightweight. Hong Kong government provides free wifi service at countless spots, and there are free wireless network hotspots everywhere such as McDonald's and some cafes. Warning, technical language starts here. Please skip it if you are not computer savvy-> Because of the wireless module in my laptop is Intel 4965agn which its Linux native driver had a TX power bug and it disconnects once in a while (usually every 10 seconds). I had to "modeprobe -r iwl4965; modprobe iwl4965" to make it back to work everytime. This was driving me crazy and there was something wrong with ndiswrapper on Ubuntu Linux (Gutsy). I couldn't install the windows driver with ndiswrapper and I don't have time to debug. I found this Linux driver works OK when the signal is strong enough, thus I spent some efforts to increase the strength of the signal. I have tried an onmi-directional antenna which didn't gain prominent improvement. Then I took several days in searching of the so called wifi booster, unfortunately I couldn't find one with a resonable price.

Then I found this thing and placing it outside of a window to act as a wifi repeater. The performance is usually good. Sometimes all signals from different sources dropps significantly, especially when the weather is hot. I recon that is because of the heavy operation of the electric substation just outside of the window and it is generating broad spectrum noices which interferes with the 2.5GHz wireless signal.

I started thinking somebody may also need such thing to extent their wifi signal range from say, downstairs to upstairs, so they may play PSP in their bed. Perhaps somebody also has the need to connect their laptop and smartphone to the same metropolitan wifi account simultaneously, this device will be helpful in this scenario as well. That is the idea which gets me to research the price in USA, UK, and Australia. I found the price in USA is not to much higher than the one I can get in Hong Kong, and the price in UK is very high. As to the price in Australia, it is the highest I can find in the world. It costs $110 in Australia. I have tested the acceptance in UK and Australia, and I found the bidders from UK bids a lot more than those in Australia. Thus I can get better profit by selling it in UK than in Australia.

I have sold 3 of this device and I am gonna keep selling it. Hope the demand in the market is still high.

This is the listing on ebay. I have more description of this device in this listing. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&item=170223499366
