When Great PS3 Deals Gone BadPosted Jun-07-08 17:20:06 PDT You know the saying "If it's too good to be true, it's not going to be true". I want to share with you my online experience with Dell.com. I'm pretty sure most of you have experienced a sale with them and have them turn around and tell you that you aren't getting that price. Well here is what happened. It was 1:30am when I got a phone call from my brother. He goes, "Hey Bro, there's a sale on PS3 on Dell.com. It's on their business section of their website. I saw it on Slickdeals.net. You should check it out" I was just surfing and I checked out Slickdeals and to my surprise, Dell has a awesome deals on a 40Gig PS3 system which retailes for $399.99 and also it comes with 2 games (Resistance: Fall of Man & NBA 08) with Free Shipping all for $280.00 Who would pass up that price. A PS3 system with 2 free games and free shipping? I couldn't believe my eyes. I clicked on the link on slickdeals and went straight to the deal. I was in for one. Then I thought about it, why 1 system when I can get 4 or 5 and make a little bit of dough out of it. So I changed it to 3, then I changed it to 4. My logic was to sell the other 3 with the 8 games and make my money back and keep the 4th one for FREE. I would probably make my money back and more and still have the 4th one. I've dealt with Dell a few times purchasing Laptops and desktops but never a game console. My initial reaction was that it had to be a pricing error. But then I've read some of the comments on Slickdeal's forum and people were saying that Sony are going to lower the price and some big retail chains are offering $100 Gift card. Well, that make sense for Dell to do this then. As I confirmed my purchase for the 4 systems, something inside me told me that this deal is too good to be true. I got the confirmation email regarding the acknowledgement of the purchase. Then I was giddy when I got the email that my order is in process (production stages) to be shipped. It was going to be shipped in 3 days. I jumped for joy. I was happy. Now I can go out and get Metal Gear Solid 4. A bunch of people were using Next day delivery incase it was a price mistake and get their system shipped out before Dell catches on. A couple of days went by and my order was still in production. It was the day before the shipping date and my order still hasn't been cancelled. I was hoping for the best. I went back on to the forum and it seems that a Cancellation email was sent out for this deal by Dell. Oh no! That was reaction. Some stupid person called Dell up to expidite his order. "What a dumbass!!" He just ruined it for everyone. The next day I woke and checked my email. Like everyone else, I recieved the cancellation email. I know some of you are thinking, "why can't Dell honor this price?" Well, apparently, in their policy, it indicate on thier web pages and advertising, Dell reserves the right to cancel orders arising from pricing or other errors. What a load of BS. Here is the cancellation email that was sent: Dear Dell Customer My Name, Thank you for your recent order number, XXXXXXXXXX We regret that a pricing error recently occurred for the PlayStation gaming console, NBA 08, and Resistance: Fall of Man. The price was erroneously listed as $280 when the actual price is $399.99. As a result of this error, we are cancelling orders generated at the incorrect price. As we indicate on our web pages and advertising Dell reserves the right to cancel orders arising from pricing or other errors. We regret our pricing error, and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Dell strives to make your experience with us a pleasant one. What a waste of 4 days. Have any of you ever experienced soemthing like this before?
