Most Recent Posts Ab Fab bellydancePosted Jun-13-07 15:30:28 PDT I am still chuckling to myself after my last class that was based around camels (abdominal undulations) and shimmies. My poor students said they ached so much that night and some the next day. I did warn them that they are better than crunchies! Happily the class is growing, well really its full and I am going to have to put people on a waiting list, and now I have someone asking me to provide another class in a village just outside of the city I will also have some lovely new belts coming into stock in a few weeks, I am just waiting for them to be delivered from Egypt. I am considering making some basic outfits for class out of lycra so they are washable, sequins are lovely but they dont wash too well! I have just made myself a new performance outfit in black and neon pink. Its a mermaid skirt with the skirt being made up of black and pink triangles to the knee and then a black crystal organza double layered circle skirt. I matched this with a pink and black wrap top and finished it off with one pink and one black gauntlet. It really looks dramatic on stage and as my friend says, its fabulous! It has already appeared twice in perfomances. But the real beauty is that I can wash it on a delicate cycle! Anyway enough waffle for now as I have to buy some modelling balloons for a booking in July! Jess :o) Loving my new bellydance classPosted May-27-07 14:59:51 PDT Well i have started my new bellydance class, last Thursday and it went really well. I had eleven students and was teaching in a pub but it was closed to the public! We went through the basics, hip circles, rib circles etc as well as some shimmies and camels. The students were friendly and quick to learn so I think I will really enjoy working with this class Next week we are going to work on a veil dance choreography as its easy and when new students are holding something they arent usually as scared, although teaching in the pub helps some students as the imbibe a glass of dutch courage first...lol I really enjoyed it and forgot how much I enjoyed teaching bellydance so I will make sure I keep it up and might even start a second class, maybe even a junior class....hmmm need to check out the insurance on that one! Well I'm off to work on the choreography for next week, if you have any questions about bellydance, please put it in the comments or email me, I am always happy to answer questions and signpost you to classes in your area Louise :0) New Stock - Avon Foam Bath now discontinued!Posted May-22-07 08:00:14 PDT Hi Everyone Just to let you know that I now have the Avon Senses Foam Bath range in my store. I feel incensed; I have just read an article where a new English Super School that is being built to replace three local schools will not have a playground. The Head of the 46 million school stated that 'I think that what the public want is maximum learning' that sounds a lot like brainwashing to me. I am ashamed that the current education system has allowed the madness of 2,200 pupil school to do this. However I'm sure the Head will find out how inhuman this is when the discipline issues raise their ugly head and at some point the oppressed will always rise... But this is as far as I know a very new thing in England, however when I checked the website and read some of the debate a teacher from another school said that they didn’t have recess so it meant by the time their children left school they had spent the equivalent to another year in school! Why is only academic learning is valued, where do children have an opportunity to learn social skills and as for another comment that stated that children had plenty of time to play at home and on the streets - what about homework? I cant believe how much children have to cope with and then the pressure of studying for stats, exams, course work how much pressure are we putting on our children? /:O| No playground for schoolsPosted May-22-07 02:15:50 PDT I feel incensed, I have just read an article where a new English Super School that is being built to replace three local schools will not have a playground. This is crazy, this kind of treatment is given to prisoners as punishment! And on top of that we have a childhood obesity problem that is growing at an alarming rate. The Head of the 46 million school stated that 'I think that what the public want is maximum learning' that sounds a lot like brainwashing to me. Hasnt he read any of the research that has been resoundlingly proved that play is a natural part of a childs learning and development? I am ashamed that the current education system has allowed the madness of 2,200 pupil school to do this. However I'm sure the Head will find out how unhuman this is when the discipline issues raise their ugly head and at some point the oppressed will always rise...
