layers of FDA approved casing. Dimming, dumbed-down brain matter.
Underworked, out-of-shape, malnourished intellect surrenders to media
mockery and a socially acceptable zombie mentality. Medicated body
parts, toxic waste, hollow, inflatable corpses maneuver destructive
fiberglass death traps along poorly constructed strips of asphalt.
Strips that connect a country of ghost towns, bathed in a sickening
neon glow and completely devoid of souls. Blink, blink- neon lights
command "Go here," "Eat this." Pale neon pipers humming clever pick-up
lines, Luring a population of drones, drones simply existing, never
really living. Their hands are cold and they smile without their eyes.
So many with tombstones in their eyes and callouses covering what's
left of their hearts. They dwell safely within the city limits of
American Dreamville.Void of life. Paved over, built up and added on to,
hunted down, plotted against, regulated. The moon, the stars, the sun,
kept from hungry eyes by warrantied roof tops and taxpayer funded,
uneccesarily excessive, artificial outdoor lighting. Citizens are
lulled to sleep by the destructive flickering of an overpriced box that
satisfies the need for companionship and pretends to think so you don't
have to. Overmedicated, obviously intoxicated "beautiful people" bark
orders and teach the zombies how they need to look and live and love.
Clever jingles disguise wants as needs and send searching pilgrims to
corporate junkyards, looking for meaning and charging it on little
plastic credit wreckers. A selfish population of greedy children. A
running theme of ignorance and a growing trend of apathy. Selfish
separation and pointlessly inflated egos shatter the distorted image
we've meticulously created for our home of the free. We've crushed the
foundation of our nation with a government induced obesity epidemic,
and allowed the true nature of the home of the brave to shine in all
its glory. A core constructed with lies, deception and scandal; layered
with an insatiable appetite for power, driven by greed and fueled by
hate; held together by the fears of it's ignorant and uninformed
citizens. Morons blinded by lies and hypocrisy disguised as freedom.
Lies and hypocrisy that fuel a patriotic uprising. National pride
paired with the battle cries of fools. Dying in vain and never fully
grasping life. We milk the land until it dries and cracks and spits
fire in protest. Consumers feigning for mother nature's goodies, but
never pausing to marvel at and appreciate her complexities or to bask
in her beauty. But really, we deserve this filth and decay of society.
Because, after all, those who haven't masterminded our nations design
and innerworkings have equally sinned -- Because we let it happen, and
settled on acceptance. |
