Adventures of an eBayer

eBay Sellers in New Orleans still need your help...

Janelle_MHappy Saturday everyone,

Some of you may already know this…but I went through Hurricane Andrew.  I lived in the middle of where the storm touched down…and by the Grace of God, & with a few miracles thrown in, my house and friends were spared any serious damage.  I was able to then help others who were not as fortunate.  I went to work with the National Guard down in Homestead delivering food and eventually I redirected some of the supply trucks to a nearby damaged church building.  I set up a free supermarket in the church for everyone in the area to come and get supplies as they needed them including fresh water, baby supplies, and food.  The people I met were incredible – humbled by the experience, grateful for escaping the storm with their health and their family, and generous with their time & gifts as they themselves got back on their feet.  Those people and the amazing experiences I had with all of them will always be a very wondrous part of my heart. (catch me sometime and I will tell you the stories of breaking curfew each night like Bonnie & Clyde to get supplies in neighboring counties and what we used to bribe the swat teams to let us into some of the areas – lol).

After the tv cameras left, and the rest of the media decided we weren’t a front page story anymore, the donations stopped coming in.  Out of site, out of mind was never a more true statement then during that period.  However, there was one group that did stay…and stayed for many years helping that area rebuild their homes and lives and communities – Habitat 4 Humanity.  They also earned an honor in my heart for what they did after everyone else left.

Habitat 4 Humanity is now doing the same thing for the areas devastated by Katrina…

I will be going down to New Orleans a week early to help H4H build houses.  I am very honored to be doing this and request that all of you join me in supporting this amazing organization by going to http://www.habitat.org/donation/ now to donate money and/or your time.  For as little as $5 a month, you can help support others who are not as fortunate as you.

I will be building from May 14th – 18th with H4H.  Building being an interesting word…after they see my amazing talents with a hammer or a power tool, they will probably put me on the ‘getting coffee’ patrol – lol.  But whatever I need to do to help!

Again, I invite you to help H4H and the communities of New Orleans as well.  Please go to http://www.habitat.org/donation/ now to pledge your support. During the week of May 14-18th, I will be posting updates on my ‘building’ activities up on Online Success Institute (www.onlinesuccessinstitute.com).

eBay University will be having a FREE event in New Orleans on May 19th, 2007 to help assist the local community in getting back on it’s feet.  You can register to attend at:

www.ebay.com/university  But hurry, the beginner’s class is already sold out and there are only a few seats left in my Advanced Class.

I highly recommend that you take the week that I am gone to New Orleans to catch up on all the podcast interviews you might have missed.  When I return, we will be moving forward with OSI’s exclusive “I Choose Success” membership.  Exciting details to soon follow!

Huge blessings always,
Janelle
