I need your help - what's the definition for "antique" on eBay

Definition for "Antique"

I am an inexperienced eBayer. I recently won a bid on a lamp, it's described as "antique" but as I opened the box few minutes ago, I was astonished to find out it's relatively new made with cheap material. The seller didn't specify the return policy. What shall I do? Pls. help.

The definition of an antique is an item that is at least 100 years old. Contact the seller and tell him/her that the items is not an antique, and you wish to return it immediately.

Have you contacted the seller to let them know how you feel? Most sellers will work with you if you are unhappy with your purchase. Most likely you will nedd to return the item, unless the two of you can reach a solution without it.

File a "item not as described" report with pay pal...if the seller will not accept a return.

Actually it is widely accepted to be antique if it is 50 years oildat least.Did the listing say antiqued, that means an antique look. But if the listing clearly states antique and you know that it isn't,try to work it out with the seller to arrive at a mutual agvreement.if they refuse, then file for an item not as described dispute,If that doesn't work, escalate it to a claim.Paypal will ahve you return the item to the seller and provide a tracking number if the claim is decided in your favor.Should your claim be declared as valid also file for the return postage through Paypal. If the item is misrepresented then the seller clearly intended to defraud you and you shouldn;t be out one red cent.

But remember,it all depends on the validity of the lamp being antique or not and the seller not being willing to fix any problem equitably

It's clearly stated as "Antique", "a rare find". Obviously it's used, but very recent make (may be within past 5 years). A brand new one cost about $10 more than this "antique" one. What I was looking for was a real antique banker's lamp.

Thanks for your tips again.
