Whoa. I don't know if I should laugh & cheer or shake my head in disbelief...Posted Apr-27-07 10:25:37 PDT "Women's town" to put men in their placeThu Apr 26, 9:04 AM ET Chinese tourism authorities are seeking investment to build a novel concept attraction -- the world's first "women's town," where men get punished for disobedience, an official said Thursday. The 2.3-square-km Longshuihu village in the Shuangqiao district of Chongqing municipality, also known as "women's town," was based on the local traditional concept of "women rule and men obey," a tourism official told Reuters. "Traditional women dominate and men have to be obedient in the areas of Sichuan province and Chongqing, and now we are using it as an idea to attract tourists and boost tourism," the official, surname Li, said by telephone. The tourism bureau planned to invest between 200 million yuan ($26 million) and 300 million yuan in infrastructure, roads and buildings, Li said. "We welcome investors from overseas and nationwide to invest in our project," he added. The motto of the new town would be "women never make mistakes, and men can never refuse women's requests," Chinese media have reported. When tour groups enter the town, female tourists would play the dominant role when shopping or choosing a place to stay, and a disobedient man would be punished by "kneeling on an uneven board" or washing dishes in restaurant, media reports said. The project, begun in the end of 2005, was expected to take three to five years to finish.

I plan on relaxing - wait, who am I kidding... I plan on busting my tail to get everything listed, sold, and orders packed & shipped this weekend. Waaaaa! At least the kids and I will be getting out and having some scheduled fun, too. ^_^ Lots of parks, parties, and festivals to go to. I LOVE SPRING!! Have a fantastic weekend bloggers! Free Quick*Sell Gallery from ISDN*tek I'm so tech-y.Posted Apr-26-07 09:08:21 PDT Updated Apr-26-07 10:03:20 PDT I'm getting pretty good at this web design thang. I now have
FREE online flash games for people to play!
No registration or logins or anything else complicated on there that I haven't the time to learn how to do. Yay! My resident video game monkeys have tested
most of the games (BTW - they love their new titles). Monkey #2 keeps
reminding me that HE's the best video game tester ever and that he will be
testing video games for Nintendo when he grows up (after he pitches for
the Texas Rangers and becomes a scientist... of course).
LOL! Monkey #1 says he knows everything about video games so he will
of course be designing games for Nintendo (and eventually own the
company). They are even cuter when they're
ambitious! Here are some shots of a few of the games I've installed (or whatever you call it - perhaps I'm not quite as tech-y as I thought): ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I got them from http://www.freegamesforyourwebsite.com which is exactly what the name suggests - a great place to get free games for your website. Genius! You can play them
on the Fun & Games page on my site at http://www.karmabox.com/id30.html Have FUN & let me know what you think or suggestions of other things to add to my site. I'd appreciate it! If you have a website, I hope this info helps ya! Thank you! -ann Ha!Posted Apr-25-07 09:15:24 PDT ![]() From Yahoo! The obviously drunken man tried to rest with his horse in the bank's entrance, when passers-by called the police who could convince the man and horse to leave the bank. (AP Photo/Police Handout) Is there something in the air today?Posted Apr-25-07 09:04:27 PDT I have a whole slew of things I have to get done today but instead of being productive, I just keep wandering around the house in circles. I have an urge to go sit at a restaurant patio and throw back some frozen margaritas. *sigh* ![]() I think I just need to take a REAL day off. No emails, no eBay, no phone calls, no packing, no shipping, no listing, no sewing, no painting, no web development, no drawing, no cleaning, no laundry, no kids - and dare I say... no blogging? LOL! Now that I think about it, it would be awfully boring. Hooray for boredom!!
It's Monday!Posted Apr-23-07 07:17:33 PDT Updated Apr-23-07 08:50:43 PDT Woo hooo! Not really. *_* It is a beautiful morning however. I'm puppy-sitting for a friend and actually wore her out! This is Tika - a purebred Irish Terrier puppy: ![]() Isn't she sweet?? We went jogging and played out on the bike trails. Poor girl was pooped by the time we got home. LOL! I've also finished another handbag. This one is a birthday gift though - I can't wait until she gets it! As I mentioned in a previous post, I have boxes and boxes of gorgeous fabrics. This purse is made from one of the many crewel fabrics I have. I also added some satin ribbon and beaded handles. I'm so glad I didn't sell all my old jewelry making stuff. I love beads almost as I love fabric. Almost. ![]() I'm going to go sew, pack & ship, and prep listings today after Tika goes home. Now I have to take Tika out to play (and pee... oh my poor carpet, I'll spare you the details). Have a great day! Good morning!Posted Apr-22-07 06:48:04 PDT Good morning bloggers!! I've started making purses again! This is the first one I've listed so far. It's made of a navy blue upholstery canvas and I cut out and sewed on several bright felt flowers. ![]() I love how the inside
turned out, too. I went for apron style pockets instead of zipper ones
- it's soooo much easier. It's so adorable I want to keep it for
myself. But alas, bills to pay and such. *sigh* When I get the time
I'll have to make another one just for me. ![]() Anyway, I'll post the
other ones once they are finished. A friend of mine hooked me up with
BOXES and BOXES of the most beautiful fabric samples in the world! I'm
talking gorgeous decor fabric, silks, chenilles, sheers, prints, velvets, crewels, etc.
Stuff that costs around $300 - $400 a yard! I nearly fainted when I
was going through all the boxes. My son thought he might have to call 911 because I was screaming and then had to lie down to catch my breath. It was better than Christmas! Talk about a blessing! I know, I know... I'm a fabric freak. Some of my friends use a different term I won't mention here. ^_~ I LOVE fabric. I have closets filled to the brim with fabric. Some of which I need to list and get out of here... the rest I am turning into purses, dolls, stockings, clothing, and whatever else I can come up with. I'm also going to design a ton of items for some upcoming charity auctions. A blessing like this HAS to be paid forward. I'm so excited!!! Ahhh, fabric. *drools in ecstasy... but not on my precious fabric!* I Love YOU!Posted Apr-21-07 08:54:19 PDT Good morning!! This is a custom designed Felt Fuzzi Hair Clip I made for one of my customers. I just loved how it turned out so I wanted to show you guys. I think I might make a Peace sign one, too. Hmmm... ![]() "I Love You" in Sign Language Have a great day! Get this s**** out of my house!Posted Apr-20-07 06:40:39 PDT What? No, I meant stuff. Potty mouth! ^_~ I have a TON of $0.99 auctions!! Pack 'em up & move 'em out! I'm going to get off the blogs and go make some stuff now. Thank's for looking!
Free Quick*Sell Gallery from ISDN*tek Good morning!!Posted Apr-20-07 06:00:54 PDT Ladybug LadybugI don't think I've EVER been this ANGRY!!!Posted Apr-18-07 10:17:31 PDT Updated Apr-18-07 10:18:05 PDT
I've been through a LOT of crap with public schools, especially concerning my kids. A LOT. After watching this I am fuming! How do we get these roadblocks (public education monopolies, unions led by psychopaths, and other bureaucratic fools) out of the way so that our kids can have a chance? The ENTIRE world is laughing at us because face it - our kids are failing at a mind boggling pace. What kind of country will this become if the ones left to run and live in it are uneducated morons? Why is it so damn hard to change things in this country for the better? One lady interviewed in this report said that competition isn't good for kids or humans. WTF??? I guess that's the same thinking behind giving every kid a trophy even if they lost. Why work hard or at all? I'll get the same reward as the next guy who's busting his ass. How did we go from the Greatest Generation down to the Reward Me for My Incompetence Generation?? What kind of democracy doesn't allow competition? Sounds more like a communist or socialist form of government to me. Schools are a business and need to be treated as such. After all, private schools are doing it and out score public schools. I want that voucher system used in Milwaukee & Belgium here for my kids. You'll have to see the video to know what I mean. How else will our schools improve? More money, mob run unions / PTAs, and delusional administrators certainly aren't doing it. Ugh. My brain hurts from all the questions it keeps throwing up. Yes, throwing up. I feel nauseous. Just sit back, grab some Dramamine and try not to scream in frustration as you watch this. Thanks for letting me vent! *Note: It's a bit long so if you are at work, you might want to wait till you get home to watch it. It's a 20/20 report with John Stossel called Stupid in America in case you've already seen it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfRUMmTs0ZA&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fblog%2Emyspace%2Ecom%2Findex%2Ecfm%3Ffuseaction%3Dblog%26pop%3D1%26ping%3D1%26indicate%3D1 Help!! Who was eliminated from Dancing with the Stars tonight????Posted Apr-17-07 19:19:53 PDT I missed it and don't think I can handle waiting until they show it online tomorrow. *screams and pulls hair out* High Pressure Low Pressure... It's all just Pressure (and a migraine)Posted Apr-16-07 16:38:48 PDT Oh my head hurts. The weather here in Texas keeps changing. Spring time here is basically defined as a time of year when all four seasons sort of collide and tornadoes spew forth. We had snow on Easter. Yes, SNOW. It went from below freezing to 85 degrees within 24 hours this weekend. And now it's just... disgustingly beautiful outside. It's only disgusting because of this high (or low, who knows) pressure front sitting above it as a prelude to the storms coming tomorrow. My plants and my head are in pain. But soon enough, it will settle down and be absolutely gorgeous for a long stretch. That is until the Texas summers show up. -aack- Anyway, I hope everyone in Blog Land is doing well. I miss visiting - it's been super busy here. I'm trying to clean out my closets and get rid of all the stuff that somehow just magically appears there. I swear it's like my home has a gateway to some pan-dimensional flea market somewhere. Oh yeah... I'M that gateway. Oops. Darn shopping addiction. So check out my store if you get a chance. I have a ton of stuff to list so I'd better get back to it. Take care! -ann ![]() Buy me. :(Posted Apr-13-07 10:04:48 PDT Updated Apr-14-07 07:31:24 PDT Happy Easter from KarmaBox!Posted Apr-08-07 14:12:45 PDT Updated Apr-14-07 07:31:42 PDT ![]() Have a wonderful Easter! And remember it's not all about bunnies, eggs, and honey baked ham... it's about the resurrection of Jesus Christ (and perhaps a little bit about those huge chocolate shaped bunnies). ^_^ Love and Blessings all around! I'm PURPLEPosted Apr-05-07 14:48:41 PDT Updated Apr-08-07 18:18:14 PDT Yay! I finally made it to a Purple Star! And then some... :P I want to thank my customers, my coffee maker, and the Acadamy. ^_^ I have also finished moving (again - ugh, don't ask) and we are getting settled in. Verizon came and hooked up my FiOS internet without nearly as much drama as last time (see November's blogs) - only had to have them and their contractors come out three times. Not bad. Anyway, I've been taking out my stress on canvas and have several new paintings to list. This is my favorite new one. It's a self portrait - only I'm much cuter and thinner in paint. LOL! ![]() Well, I'm going to take a nap. Too much excitement can give a gal wrinkles you know. :P Have a great evening bloggers! |
