Free JAVA Lesson

JAVA, is a web based programming language that enhances your web browser. It provides really slick animated graphics, such as those internet speed tests, and you can interact with it to upload graphics, or you can play online games with it. If you don't have it you won't get very far on the web!

It used to be included in Microsoft operating systems, and the JAVA virtual machine was updated along with the operating system, making it a painless way to go. You are updating anyway so this is a fine arrangement. This was great until Sun sued Microsoft.

Now, along with Microsoft updates, I have TWO damn JAVA icons in my taskbar for JAVA updates, sapping my computer's resources, constantly pestering me to update them. FREE Open Office download! Blah Blah Blah. I can remove one or the other but I leave them there just to remind me how people can never seem to leave "Well Enough" alone. 

Way back when, you could get FREE lightbulbs from Edison. Just bring in your burnt out bulbs for a free replacement. This was great! Great until a store-owner sued them because he could not compete with this arrangement.

 I remember the cheap phone bills we USED TO HAVE. Ma Bell would subsidize our phones by charging higher rates to it's business customers. A typical consumer phone bill was 5 to 10 dollars a month! Well the AARP fixed that for us by complaining that this modest amount was too much for our retired citizens.

Moral of this story: Don't BRAGG or COMPLAIN about a great deal. Somebody will fix it for Everybody.
