Most Recent Posts Goodbye my love.Posted Jun-08-08 01:43:02 PDT Last Saturday my sweet, sweet man died. I will always love you, Bill. An update...Posted Mar-08-08 23:07:54 PST Updated Mar-08-08 23:08:46 PST I know getting too personal is well...the opposite of business like. But hey..I am a person. Besides, people have been so kind to me that I have met through Ebay that I thought I should relay this info.. On Feb 15th my husband...the love of my life, was diagnosed with advanced cancer. He is hanging in there but very ill. The most recent prognosis was very, very grim. But Doctors are not Gods...and only God can say how long he will stay here with his family and friends. I and Bill are praying for a miracle. He says he plans on getting better. We are trying to get him in the physical position to be strong enough to under go chemo. Already radiation shrank one large tumor to almost nothing. I must see him being all better in my minds eye. I must believe. I do...he will heal. Please, if you have a higher power...pray for him. Please also pray for me to be strong for him and our children. Thank you. A homework extravaganza!Posted Oct-04-07 06:01:34 PDT Updated Oct-04-07 06:03:43 PDT I haven't had much time for more than homework...art school has TONS of it! A wonderful thing happened to me...I was introduced to working with clay...now I am a sculpture major. I tried to explain to the Director of Sculpture how it felt when I started working with clay...a sculptor ( I would hope so!) himself he told me about how he first tried it and thought "Ah yes! I'm home!" That was exactly how I felt...I have found what I want to do! My husband, bless his heart couldn't be more supportive...and this is a big deal. Doing it online is going to be tough, and it is going to mean a lot of money spent in the way of materials and supplies. He was astounded when I said I was most interested in life sized work...that might be tricky, and all life sized work will probably have to be limited to clay...but I also want to know all about bronze, and jewelry, and whatever else. The director is a Prince, and willing to work with me as far as tailoring the degree to my goals of being a figurative sculptor...believe it or not that means LOTS of drawing classes. My husband was also a bit surprised by that. I cannot explain why the drawing classes are important other than to say they help with learning to see, and with learning proportion, and other visual basics. Figure drawing is THE way to understand how the body is set up...Doctors should be made to take up to advanced figure drawing as well as ecorche ( modeling the human body as if it has no skin )...making the things gives one an intimate understanding of how it is..made. Now an artist does not have to fully understand how all the parts work, or what they are called...just visually represent them....but it doesn't hurt, and it sure would be good for a future Doctor to build a body on paper and in clay. Sprucing things up a bit.Posted Sep-03-07 16:23:22 PDT Updated Sep-03-07 16:27:26 PDT I have been working on the image for my logo and on my about me page for quite awhile. It is a watercolor and digital hybrid and I love it. I like using the two together but if you start traditionally and finish digitally, you have no original. Yes....I know...opinion on this varies widely and it is the issue that is holding up my guide on digital art. I dont want to hurt anyone ...I suppose the answer might be to ask a serious collector how they feel about only having a print available. I as a collector...semi serious, dont like it. I want the original for collecting. A print is great for decorating. I would love to write more but they are closing my street tomorrow for maintenance so I have to stay the night with my sister if I am going to get my girls to school in the morning. Maybe I will edit later if I can get online at her place...might not be able to grab a signal. Maybe can try dial up for the evening. Or just use her computer. By the way...I have something not art related coming up soon...new gold jewelry at just a bit above scrap as the starting bids. I ofcourse will be following all moral and ebay as well as EBSQ rules to the best of my ability. I hope you browse, bid and enjoy. New thingsPosted Aug-21-07 11:57:40 PDT Updated Aug-21-07 12:01:21 PDT I am in the process of making some handpainted postcards to offer for sale. And I also have finished the first draft of a guide on digital art. I have noticed that even now many people...including the artists themselves are very confused about digital art. It ties into a local project to form an artists group for digital artists in Central Ohio, that I am involved in. That idea sprang from a local gallery showing of digital work that I was part of. I hope to be able to add to this endeavor by having the POV of someone who does both digital and traditional artwork. I hope the guide I am writing will help more people understand the rather confusing world of digital art. I have some concerns but I will approach the whole thing with an honest heart and I hope with some tact. Have a great week, or what remains of it. Hey...have a great next week too! I need to go get the cards done that I will post. I am limited on time. I am starting school soon! And ...well...I admit my short comings...I have a sculpture class, and I'm pretty darn intimidated by the idea. It will take a lot of my attention and I'm not sure how much more new work I'll be able to do and sell in the next 6 months. |
