Got service started this morning, sang one song, then suddenly there was a commotion in the back row! Turns out Paul (one of the younger people in church, 30 something) was having a bad heart attack. Tried to keep the service going with some music while he was attented to by a couple of our snowbirds who are RN's... lucky for Paul. They kept him breathing using some borrowed air someone in chuch just happened to have in the car, gave him asprin that was in someones pocket, then raced him over to the little hospital here while someone who had his home phone number called a doctor to meet them there. Paul's heart stopped on the way over twice, and had CPR performed on him twice. He made it to the hospital where they brought him back from deaths door and stabilized him somewhat. He was checked and it was discovered that he had some bad blockage near his heart, in more than one place. They threw him in an ambulance and rushed him to Mexicali to the facility there for surgery. He will make it only because God put it on his heart to make sure he got to church this morning. Good thing he fought the urge to stay home, otherwise he would not be here right now. Turns out he was in pain all night but had not said anything to anyone thinking it would just go away on it's own... not! Pastor Gary had to run off just before the end of service since he was the only one that knew any of Pauls history, family etc. Funny thing, he had just given us the keys for all the doors a couple of day's ago, even though we said we would never need them all. Funny how the lord knows so much more than we do isn't it. We locked up so he could go help, one of the members of the church finished up the service and we all sang a final song that was powerful and uplifting. It appears Paul will be fine thanks to being in the right place with all the help he needed right there with him... THANK YOU LORD!
