Knock Off Purse Parties

I would really like some feedback from other people regarding these designer knock off purse parties.  Over the course of the past year, I have probably been to about 3 different purse parties.  The price of these purses are absolutely ridiculous.  Why would I pay $65 for a "leather like, designer inspired" purse when you can get something twice as nice for half the price at Target or Shopko.

The revelation came to me yesterday when browsing the purse section at my local Shopko store.  Yikes! I hit the jackpot when my eyes spotted a zebra striped bag with red accents sitting on a tower shelf of various style handbags.  The ticket price?  An amazing $29.99! But, that wasn't the final price folks.  Of course there was a 40% off all handbags sale going on and to my delight, the purchase ended up to be a mere $18.98 (with tax).

If I had seen this bag at a purse party, the price would be probably be around $35.  In fact, there are similiar purses listed on Ebay anywhere from $24.95-39.95.  PLUS SHIPPING!

Please let me know what your thoughts are regarding the purse parties and why on earth anyone would pay the prices being charged!!

This beauty is hanging on the back of my bathroom door and it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling every time I look at it!

Nice guy! Inspiring stylist in the hair world.  If you can see him and want to change the way you do business in your salon, it is well worth it!

The High Price of Fashion

I got to thinking today about clothing and the pricing of it after looking through my latest edition of"W" magazine.  This mag lists all of the top, high end fashion designers; Prada, Gucci, Yves St Laurent, to just name a few.  I look at the prices of some of these items and think to myself, "How can people justify paying that amount for an item?!"  Ok, ok, it is quality, then, you need to factor in the overhead and salaries and the cost of models and fashion shoots and.... Yeah, I know all about it, but why is a $2,800 Tod bag better than a ine West?  Come on people!!

When you list your pre-worn items on Ebay, with a great prce tag to boot, it can be so rewarding.  One, you are helping someone find an item that may have been a great piece in your wardrobe at one time. But, it may have shrunk (or you may have gotten larger but we don't want to go there--keep it positive) so you list it on Eay. The second excellent part of selling on Ebay is that it is a kind of recylcing and we all want to do that.

My advice to you is find some great fashion and accessories through Ebay. It is a fashion hounds paradise.

Why Are Middle Easterners so Violent?

So my husband and I are watching "Kingdom" with Jamie Foxx last night and I proclaimed right out loud in the middle of the movie, "Why are they so violent and want to kill everyone?!!"  Ok, some nerves might be touched her but I just don't get it and would like someone to please give me some insight.

From movie/news portrayals and from some books that I have read, ie-Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns (both awesome by the way), the people from Afganistan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia all seem so religious.  They are always praying and saying "God be with you", and "peace be with you" but then, you cross them; they want to kill you.

This culture is so intriguing to me because of the fact that they preach love in one breath and violence in the next.  God is not about violence. He is love and peace.  Nothing gets accomplished with violence except for more violence.  How many more innocent lives will be taken because of this? Please people--stop fighting and start loving!

Me and Adam Livermore

Many of you probably do not know who the heck Adam Livermore is but he is a great stylist!  This talented young man works at Spalon Montage in Edina (Minneapolis) Minnesota.  He won Wella's prestigious Trend Vision contest in 2007.  This is a contest for stylists who have fewer than 10 years in the industry.  Adam went on to represent the USA in the world wide contest which was held in Spain.  He is a kind soul and again, does tremendous work.  The picture you see is after he cut and colored my hair.

In addition to doing hair, Adam is a part-time educator for Wella.  He teaches fellow stylists how to use the color for the best outcome.  Sounds easy but the color application process is very tricky.  There are a lot of things to consider; hair type, underlying pigments, natural level of hair, what colors look good on the client, the mixing etc.  There is a real science to hair color.  All of you know someone who has hair color that just doesn't look right!  They don't have a good colorist or they are doing their hair themselves.

If you are a creative hair stylist and you like competitions, please check out www.wellausa.com to find out more about the Wella Trend Vision contest.

Please check back soon because I have more intersting stories and pictures to share with you regarding the many other people that I have had the opportunity to meet.
