Shipping Charges

For those of you who have noticed changes in shipping policies from your eBay card dealers, please be aware that the change is probably legitimate.  When the cost of a stamp jumped to 41 cents about a week ago, other change went into effect that have raised the average cost of using a standard bubble envlope about 60 cents.  Bubble envelopes are now being classified differently and charged much more than in the past.  Don't be surprised when shipping prices go up a bit from your favorite sellers...

Indeed, as an internet business reflectivedecals.com our costs have gone up accross the board in last year. As gas prices continue to rise these costs will likely continue to rise as well. Be patient when ordering online. Avoid overnite or priority shipping, waiting a few extra days for delivery can save you money, especially with odd shaped or fragile items.

The bad part is losing customers due to increase shipping, Ive had some for years, and now I have to raise mine. I feel i will loose some due to the increase.

Let me tell you something that I've noticed...shipping charges here are outrageous. Amazon at least gives you the minimal 5% discount on item and free (ground) shipping when over $25. (i.e. something retails for $54 ...amazon has it for $39.00) Same item here on ebay goes for (35 plus the outrageous shipping of $12-15). Now this is better than getting up going to your local retailer and pay retail (at least for me, if you are willing to wait a few days). Is there something to do to regulate shipping costs? I know there's a "calculate" shipping...which helps...but those members that are just trying to lure you to bid on low item but makes up on the shipping is kinda disappointing. It's sad, people don't bid unless the shipping cost is comparable. Just my 2 cents...

Thanks for bring that up. I get flak all the time because of posting costs.
As a seller buyers should understand that if it is a bulky item then Aust post charges by size of box and don't really care about weight, as long as it is under 2okilo.

I had a item that had to be sent to a remote place in WA the cost of postage was $95 plus the cost of the box and packing. The buyer thought I was trying to rip them off but I don't run OZ post.

A lot of buyers don't understand that as a seller I have to cover a bit of my costs so a small handling fee is appropriate, as there is packing then taking it to the post office, this can take over 1 hour to do.

When you sell an item for 99cents then spend over an hour plus fuel for the car, the handling charge does not even cover your costs.

I sold an item to North QLD that cost me $35 to post although it was only 3 kilos it was bulky. I only charged $15 for postage sold the item for $15 and ended up $5 out of pocket in cash without the time factor involved. You win some you lose some.
