How i got a Brand New Nintendo DS lite for $50 bucks!Posted Jan-17-07 15:57:07 PST So back in the day, (Well like a year ago) I had a Gameboy Advance SP with the following games: Metroid Fuzion Final Fight Advance Golden Sun Mario + Luigi Superstar Saga Castlevania King of Fighters Double Dragon Advance After about a month or so of having it i kind of lost interest in the system and gave it to my little brothers and sisters as a gift. I did have fun with it but i just kind of lost interest in it after i got my Xbox 360, i mean it was just a dust collector. The DS came out and i couldnt care less... didnt need one didnt want one. But about 2 months ago i was at my homeboys house watching the Fins game and his girlfriend was playing "Nintendogs" well i was checking it out and thought it was pretty cool so i played it a little and was impressed with the graphics and use of the stylus but still didnt really want to get one for myself. Well 2 weeks later she told me that she was gonna take her DS to Ebgames and trade it in to get a DS lite and that they were offering her 40 bucks for it so i told her "Yo I'll give you 50 for it right now and save you a trip" so she sold it to me. She had the original box and everything even had the spare stylus.. everything was in perfect condition.. But when she told me that she bought it at B E S T B U Y! and had a 2 yr warranty.. i damn near busted a vessel cause i was about to pull a fast one on the geek squad. =D So she signed over the warranty to my name and i went home to formulate a plan. So i figured ok 2 yr warranty there is no physical damage to the system i just have to figure out a way to get it not to work and get a replacement. So what i did is i left my system on overnight and let the battery die then in the morning i kept turning it on and letting it turn off then turn it back on again for about 30 minutes untill the system would just turn on and instantly turn itself off. I drove over to best buy and went over to the help desk and stood in line for about 20 mintues cause some lady and her son were trying to return a TV that they said was broke, she got sent over to a manager and it was my turn. So i walked over and I told dude that My DS was just not working, he asked me How so and i told him that When i charge it, it plays fine for like half an hour then after that it just dies totally so he proceeds to open the box and examine it he looks it over real quick and tryies to turn it on .... Yea good luck with that one buddy.. It turns on it turns right off.. he looks over at my recipt and warranty and says "Ok just go get another one yo"... Thats what he said.. So i walk over the the Games section and See DS lites Everywhere but no reg DS's like mine, apparently they stopped making those big ones so i grabbed a Black one and headed back to the line i put it down and dude started ringing it up i couldnt believe it, could it be this easy? Then ... trouble came along. The DS that i brought from my friend was the "Nintendogs Best Friends Edition" meaning it came with a copy of the game "Nintendogs" which i didnt get as part of my deal but the dude at the counter said he needed the game because it was part of the package.. well i what i told him was "Look man i dont have the game i mean i traded that game in months ago, i dont have it anymore" he just looked at me and stood there for a sec and was like.. you know what it doesnt matter.. and finished ringing me up (Whoo Hoo) And the best part about the whole thing is that The DS lite is $129.00 and the DS that i brought in was $149 .00 when it came out so i got a new 2 yr warranty for my new DS for free cause the difference in price paid for it. HA! And that is how i got my Ds Lite. Just thought it was a cool little story i'd share, I didnt realize it was going to be this long so if you read it.. Thanks =D. |
