I may be alone in my feelings of being stabbed in the back and lied to, thrown to the wolves, I'm sure its just because I'm not smart enough to understand how this feedback thing is going to help me. I am smart enough to generate revenue, though not enough for ebay to care if I stay or go. i do know you can manipulate numbers to say anything you want, so the excuse that sellers leave neg 8x more often than buyers only makes me wonder if those are people who didn't pay. The quality sellers I know only leave negs when a buyer does not pay or after receiving unfair negs themselves. Wonder if the NPBs were figured into the equation? I know there are sellers who are jerks, but from what I've seen ebay could put a stop to that by enforcing policies already in place. They choose not to because some of these are huge sellers. So the rest of us are being punished instead of ebay forcing some sellers to behave. I am a power seller and could not believe they number of warnings each level could receive before any serious action is taken. Check it out on the power seller info pages. I would have thought we would be held to at least the same if not a higher standard of professional conduct than non-ps. Here again, selective enforcement of current policies. If current policies were enforced fairly, to all, the problems would disappear. Just like with excessive shipping, that could be stopped quite easily if ebay chose to do so. They know who the offenders are, but continue to do nothing because they are such big sellers. So, just like with other areas in life, the only way to make a difference here is to bea mega-seller, then you can do as you please. If one or two of the really big sellers complained, this would be reversed. And the carrot dangled about 15% with high DSR levle is a joke. If even one category is a point low, there it goes. Its not an average. And ebay knows that buyers always rate low on shipping/handling charges-even when we charge actual cost and have no handling charge. We were smart enough to help make them rich, but not smart enough to see through this? Holding funds, manipulating searches, "lowering" fees, holding sellers hostage with feedback-these ideas were poorly thought out and unacceptable to sellers. If ebay wants to attract more buyers, why not try better advertising? If you want to make buyers feel more confident and safe, why not enforce the policies concerning poor sellers and inflated shipping charges which you already have? I am a buyer as well as a seller. I am not sure I want to spend my money to encourage what I see becoming a sweatshop mentality of management. As a seller, is this what I have to look forward to? This is no way for me to run a business. I would prefer to move to another venue along with many other sellers. Other venues may not have had the same traffic as ebay, but with so many leaving and moving elsewhere, that should be changing. Ebay should have kept in mind that sellers are also buyers and we are not impressed. My letter to ebayPosted Jan-30-08 07:15:02 PST Eventhough I am going to be paying more through the fee reductions(I sell lower priced items), I could possibly live with that.
