Most Recent Posts Terrorism From WithinPosted Jun-17-08 14:55:24 PDT Okay. So far, in the last two years, there have been THOUSANDS of recalls of everything from our children's toys to the food we eat. Baby's furnishings, automotive parts [manufacture of which was outsourced outside the country], medicines [both RX and OTC]...all experiencing recalls. After the Anthrax Scare, can we really sit back in our complacency and just assume these are separate, unconnected events? Are the disciplined slaughterhouse workers really responsible for the tainted ground beef entering our food chain? Many Americans believe our Government is simply doing a better job by finding all these problems, by discovering that they even exist! and in reporting their findings to us because we live in America. Our government would NEVER lie to us, and anyone who says differently is guilty of yellow journalism, shoddy research, and are the worst kind of alarmists. I don't happen to agree with those people. I know what I see and I have seen the government lie to us. The truth is that they will tell us anything necessary to make us believe their propaganda, and to keep us "safely ignorant," as a society. Most people are happy with that. Ignorance really IS bliss. Chnina dumps a few million US dollars last year just to "see how it affects the world market." It affected it, all right. The US dollar went down by 1/4 its value! That was interesting, they thought, and they invested the newly acquired wealth in Euros, driving the US dollar down by an additional 28 cents. Our dollar is now worth just less than half what it was this time five years ago. Thanks, China! See, we owe them SO MUCH already [over 2/3 our whole national debt, in fact], that if they can devalue the dollar even more, we'll NEVER get them paid back, and when/if we do, they'll further manipulate the market, which will bring the value back UP so that we'll have repaid the money approximately 8 times, increasing THEIR buying power, while destroying ours in the process. OPEC refuses Bush's request for more oil for America, while granting the same request made by France and Spain. China's industrialization and India's improving domestic lifestyles are contributors to the oil demand, yes. But OPEC is to blame for this "shortage," as they could just as easily turn up the production and sell us more oil. Instead, they have TWICE denied Bush's formal requests. So blame the oil crisis on whomever you wish, but the real source of our discomfort is OPEC. I do not believe for a moment that all of these occurrences are coordinated efforts by the enemies of America to bring about our downfall. I just believe that MANY of these occurrences ARE coordinated efforts by different factions of various organizations [including terrorist cells] to facilitate our own decline. Don't hate paranoids. Paranoids are people too, and besides, if everyone hated you, you'd be paranoid, too. POLITICAL ECWPosted Jun-17-08 13:54:19 PDT You know...Back in "the day," I was a SECW fan. That's South-Eastern Championship Wrestling, for the uninitiated in our midst. This was when Joe LeDuc [the Canadian Lumberjack Champion] was the biggest thing in the ring [literally], when Randy Rose and his cousins Rob and Ron Fuller [of Baldwin County, AL HI Y'ALL!!] were the best things in the ring, and no one had yet heard of Adrian Street [would very soon, but not yet]. I remember sitting back in the changing rooms with Bob Armstrong [before his sons were as popular as he was], learning everything I could from the cross-talk between him and the Mongolian Stomper [sweetheart of a psychopath], and Ken Lucas [before he was killed in the street in a stunt gone horrible [and personal]. I remember the awe I felt when I realized that these guys were FRIENDS...not just co-wrestlers, but they knew one another's families, friends, attended back yard barbecues together, and shared their lives together. It was all just a show! A great show, but still just a show. I was so impressed [as only a 15 year old can be] that these guys could spew such vehemence at one another on camera, and go backstage and be so cordial...the camaraderie was amazing. What's this got to do with the title? Well, call me incredibly naive, but I JUST realized today, watching the posturing and back-slapping Obama and Gore were doing on CNN, that watching the Washington political scene is JUST LIKE sitting back in lively dressing rooms all those years ago. There's less bare butt, and more of it on the shoulders, but it is otherwise identical. All the vehemence spewing is just a show. All the he said/she said is just...a show. Just like it doesn't matter who wears that SECW tag-team championship belt, it doesn't MATTER who sits in the White House, and who stands beside him/her. It's all going to go the way the "Higher Powers" dictate, no matter WHO sits in the Oval Office. Watching them prance and preen, manipulate and contrive, I can't believe I never saw this before. This realization leads me to the next logical question... "Who ARE the 'Higher Powers?' " The Illuminati? The Grimoiradarie? Who? And how much of the world's government and banks do they control? Non-Paying Bidders & Ratings ThievesPosted May-24-08 19:56:40 PDT Updated May-25-08 12:21:39 PDT Why? I mean...WHY?! Why bid on something you have NO intention of paying for? Were you too stupid to check the shipping costs BEFORE clicking the button? Were you just so "caught up in the moment" to realize you couldn't pay your light bill if you bought this? Were you just messing around when you sent in the insulting offer that the seller was desperate to accept, and had NO IDEA they'd sell the item so cheaply? Did you fail to notice that the ad stated 3 days to pay, or five? Are you so unintelligent and cavalier that you think nothing of breaking a binding legal contract, instituted the INSTANT you clicked that "bid now" button? Just asking. I don't understand people like this. ALSO, I do NOT understand ebay allowing an unscrupulous seller to enter a NonPaying Bidder report against someone who has gone through PayPal's dispute system to have a payment reversed, when a seller fails to send a paid-for item. I recently got a DVD set VERY cheaply here at ebay, and the seller was miffed because I got it so low, so he failed to send it. I had to dispute the purchase at PayPal, and won, only to have this cretin file a NPB report against me here at ebay! AND THEY LET HIM! I'm growing discontent... ...and now, we sellers aren't allowed to leave honest feedback on the buyers?! Had a "customer" leave a hard hit against my Item as Described AND Communication scores because THEY DIDN'T READ THE AD! Tell me. If you were reading THIS AD... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=220233516234&ssPageName=STRK:MESO:IT&ih=012 Yeah, I know, cut and paste...but if you were reading that ad, wouldn't you KNOW it was a freaking VHS tape? I mean...LOOK AT THE FREAKING PICTURE! AND THE AD SAYS IT'S A VHS TAPE FOR CHRISSAKES!! Jesus on a crutch! And MY scores get hit and I can't even leave the little scumlicking toad a NEGATIVE?! WTF IS UP WITH THIS? I'm looking at an early retirement...ebay has just become Iraq. Box Office Reflects the Sad State of American AffairsPosted May-04-08 17:43:37 PDT Updated May-04-08 20:34:37 PDT Iron Man has grossed over $100MUS in its opening weekend, while the Forbidden Kingdom is failing to recover its budgetary expenditures from US funds due to lackluster box office turnout. Why, when the Forbidden Kingdom is by far a superior film? The Forbidden Kingdom teaches us a lesson. It shows us how, through perseverance and intestinal fortitude, we can improve our individual lives, and by so doing, the lives of those around us. This is done by way of the Chinese myth of the Monkey King wrapped around the story of a teenage American boy who must save the world by saving the Monkey King, an enigmatic and Magickal being, who teaches us much by virtue of his own choices and deeds. Iron Man tells a similar story by way of a comic book hero who builds a metal shell within which to hide, fight for his own freedom, and restore justice for those who lack the ability to protect themselves from injustice. So why the massive difference at the box office? Frankly, we need a hero. And an American teenager doesn't fit the bill. If you'll look back, anytime our social structure [political, economical, and religious] goes awry, or hints at going awry, we – as a society – turn to the movies. Indiana Jones was one such hero, surfacing at the box offices the very month that Irish Americans were demonstrating all over the country, sharing the hunger strikes with their fellow countrymen in support of a unified Ireland. On January 20, 1981, when Ronald Reagan officially took office, the Americans taken hostage by Iran, were released and finally allowed to fly out of Iran back home to the United States; our fish are dying due to “acid snow,” an ecological weather event more toxic and more deadly than acid rain ever thought of; and martial law ends in South Korea and the Philippines...and all this happens in JANUARY, 1981. Blondie's, “The Tide Is High,” replaces John Lennon's, “Just Like Starting Over,” as the number one radio hit this month, too, by the way. Just like Star Wars came along at a time of religious uncertainty, and helped many of us sort things out in our own hearts, Indiana Jones brought America together in a way nothing else could...we all loved Harrison Ford already...he was Han Solo for crying out loud! Who didn't love Ford? Everyone did. And although he wasn't a comic book hero, Ford WAS an iconic figure in America, and DID pull us together in a way nothing else did. It also brought in over TWENTY times its budget; a high reward for uniting a nation. We turn to heroes at times of war, because our heroes always win. We embrace comic books at a time of severe want, because our heroes are every day people who rise up to vanquish the oppressors. We embrace fictitious heroes in times of darkness, because we have no real heroes anymore to look up to. We embrace comic book heroes, because the parents of the baby boomers were those parents who thought comic books would rot our brains, and prohibited them from entering the house...of course, by so doing, they made them all the more desirable, and we still love them today. It's sad that Americans can't see the beauty of another peoples' culture; that we can't embrace the legends and societies that are older than our own, to gain a little perspective. Iron Man doesn't fail to deliver, but as far as intelligence goes, the Forbidden Kingdom is light years ahead of Iron Man. Regardless, Iron Man will dominate the box office because this is America, and we need a hero. OHM! Finding the balancePosted May-01-08 15:07:01 PDT Updated May-01-08 16:31:04 PDT Okay, now that I've vented about the skanky mean person, I must regain my center. Without center, or balance, we end up reflecting the social disease though ourselves. We grow ill, or suffer physical or mental ailments with no apparent cause, etc. OHM! So I will not allow this person to disturb my still waters. I will handle him/her as though they were any one of the dozens of other ebayers I have worked with who are decent and nice and fair with their business. OHM! For those of you who are uninitiated, today is May Day. It is a day of Love and honor, of Faeries, satyrs, and fields of flowers. Go "sow your seed" in the woodlands of the world today. Run along, Poppets. Have fun. Today is a HUGE celebration! OHM! [For our handfasting pic, copy & paste this into your browser] http://elswet.50megs.com/handfasting/anthrax/4jump3.jpg It is also my anniversary. My husband and I had our spiritual ceremony today, a few years ago. Our legal ceremony was in 2002. :) The spiritual union did take a bit longer to happen, and I'm SO glad we waited. By the time we took our spiritual vows, we were in full knowledge of one another, and it meant SO much more that way. Wow. :D OHM! I think I'll go now and make a nice hot cuppa tea. Something sweet and flowery...jasmine. Yes, that's the ticket. Cheers! Lady Elswet AKA Becca OHM! |
