Trading eBay Stories

Lately we've been trading stories about our buying and selling on eBay.

One of our VPs told me about selling his first car on eBay.  There was a great bidding frenzy and his winning bidder had zero feedback but showed up within 36 hours with a cashier's check to pick up the car.  A perfectly happy ending to another eBay story.

Recently I won a pair of cute white gold earrings on eBay.  I put them on when I received them three weeks ago and haven't taken them off since.  They're my favorites now.  Have you ever noticed that about things you get from eBay?  Sometimes they end up being your favorite thing.

I'm a big time eBay browser, so I love the "find."  I'm always in pursuit of the next favorite thing.  And so it goes ...

First item ever sold

My first item ever sold on eBay was my Blondie lunchbox.  It was the one I used when I was 5.  Since it was mine, everything was still intact.  The thermos glass was still solid, the little thing that held it in place was still there, and there were not a lot of dings.  I was thrilled when it sold for $165.

I had the full-on eBay experience selling it.  One of the bidders wrote me and asked me to close the auction early.  I didn't know a lot about eBay at the time and was trying to help her, but I didn't know what to do.  She wrote me many emails, some of them describing how she was bidding in tears trying to win the lunchbox.  It was kind of sad.  But it was also an eBay experience because many sellers and buyers really care about the items they are selling and buying on the site.

eBay really makes you wish you'd saved more of your childhood possessions, doesn't it?

Just getting going

I'm an eBay enthusiast.  I started using eBay 6 years ago, but now I make it a point to use it as often as possible because it's such a cool experience.

Last week I sold two items on eBay.  One was a crocodile purse I'd purchased on eBay about a year ago and never used.  Too bad the stock market doesn't work like this.  I bought it for $80 a year ago and sold it for 50% more last week.  That's still a great price for a crocodile purse since it's an endangered species and I don't think you can buy those new anymore.

I also sold a pair of shoes.  I bought the shoes on sale, and what a bargain they were.  I couldn't wear them because they didn't quite fit! : )  So I told them on eBay for about $70 less than I paid for them.  I guess there's give and take on eBay, but that's part of the fun.  We all love the deals!
