Fraudulent Buyers Sellers Beware

I have recently been a victim of fraudulent buyers on eBay.  This is something that happened to me 3 different times in a matter of two weeks.  This is placed a restriction on my PayPal Account and has inturn hurt my current customers who are legit.  Sellers beware of buyers whos account says their location is in the states but want you to ship overseas.  I didn't think anything about it, the buyer said that they were purchasing the items as gifts to family members back home.  As a seller the way I saw it was, "As long as I get paid I don't care where I am shipping." Luckily two of three purchases were quickly caught by eBay.  However the last one was for a purchase of almost $3,000.  The money went through fine.  I waited a couple of days to process the order to make sure PayPal was not going to say the funds were fraudulent.  After about 5 days I went ahead and processed the orders.  Like many of the sellers on eBay I have several suppliers that I use to fulfill my orders.  Well I placed the order and had them ship it for me.  I payed using my PayPal debit card and I just found out that I was paid with a stolen credit card.  Now I am dealing with PayPal and the credit card company so that I am not liable for those funds.  Currently my PayPal is negative almost 2grand.  I can not except payments from my legit buyers and am losing money every day.  If a buyer has an account in the states and asks you to ship overseas, I suggest you forget that sale.  Either that or request payment in the form of a cashier's check or money order.  Otherwise you might be setting yourself for failure.  If you have an item for sale in your store and you are contacted and future messages come through your e-mail or they want you to send them an invoice through PayPal without using eBay's checkout service, immediately report it and do not make the sale.  I would hate for another buyer who works hard to maintain a good reputation to look bad as a seller.

Always ship through paypal, and print labels through paypal..This way ebay can track it..Never ship to an address other than the one in the ebay account, and be leery of unconfirmed addresses..Lesson learned, sorry you had to do it the hard way!!Good luck in the future, but I think the scams are gonna get much worse next month!
