ITS WONDERFUL BEING A SINGLE PARENT

FOUND A LISTING THAT i THINK EBAY SHOULDN'T ALLOW

I was shopping last night with my daughter and found one Seller who had many listings with Disney Princess items so we sharted going down through them.  My 8 yr old had already spent right at $40 (her own money she saved back) for items she wanted.  I put them on watch until she finished showing, that way if she found something different that she wanted she could change her mind.  Anyway, as we were going down through all these Princess items, a listing came up for silver marijuiana leaves earrings.  She thought they were pretty and wanted a pair until I explained to her what they were.  I don't think ebay should allow such items to be sold on their website.  I emailed the seller and voiced my opinion and of course, I got a rude response back.  I was told that children are not allowed to purchase items on ebay, parents do and that the earrings were leaves from a plant and that I probably wouldn't complain if someone was selling items with poppy flowers on it. (herion is made from poppy).  My daughter got upset because I refused to let her purchase any of the items from this seller and made her look elsewhere.  We have enough problems with keeping our children from drugs being forced on them and we sure don't need something like that to just pop up right in the middle of where children's items are being listed.  What do you think?

Hmmm, maybe items such as that should be listed under mature that way if children are viewing items with their parents they aren't seen.

I think your daughter is going to want to try marijuana as soon as she can.
try explaining to her that for some, marijuana is a wonderful pain reliever that allows them to live their lives somewhat normally. Let her make her own mind up once she's seen both sides.

gbay, she won't if it's left up to me. I'm one of those parents who is trying her best to keep the drug mess away from her daughter. That's why so many kids are trying it because so many parents turn their heads and say, oh, they are are to try it so what's the use of fighting it. Children can be lead in the right direction and we don't need heartless people putting it right in front of them.

in many cases healthyjerky, marijuana is legal, is prescribed by doctors, and in fact is still grown by the us government for certain patients.

seriously, teach your children both sides of the story.

the point about poppies is a good one as well.

I disagree asian. My mom was upfront about the downfalls and even when my friends tried it, I did not. There were plenty of other friends that did not want to try it either. Don't let up lois. Children can definitely be lead in the right direction.

The thing is, ebay is for adults. There are sites that are pristinely child safe. The Disney Store Online, etc... I think there are worse things in our day to day lives that are not found online. The main thing is to educate your children.

any drug can be abused, be it nicotine, caffeine, alcohol, vicadin, etc...
a responsible parent will explain the difference between use and abuse.
a child with self respect will not abuse drugs.

Lois, you should probably message ebay about it and not the seller. The seller obviously sees nothing wrong with it. I doubt ebay cares either, but like anything else, they only know people are upset about it if they are told.

I feel the same way about marijuana as I do alcohol, with alcohol they make it legal to drink but against the law to drink it and drive but then they allow drive-thru liqour stores. What a joke! If they make marijuana legal to smoke, the drugheads will find something else that is illegal to use. Being legal takes the fun out of using it is what I've been told. If you ask me it all needs to be illegal and not allowed to be made anywhere, if you caught, you should get the death penalty, after all, that's what you are giving everybody else when you get on the highways using any of it. Needless to say, look how many families are destroyed everyday because of it.

Wow Lois- you are advocating Prohibition... We all know what a monumental failure that was. When you criminalize something, you attract criminals...
Amazing that 10% of American's are currently incarcerated- the vast majority on drug charges... The United States has the highest incarceration rate in the world. In the United States more than 1 in 100 adults is now confined in an American jail or prison. The United States has 5% of the world's population and 25% of the world's incarcerated population.
This MUST be due to the Marijuana Leaf earrings on eBay. (LMAO!)

spicy peach, yes ebay is an adult site but when you are looking in someone's listings and they have all children's items and then right in the middle of them is one listing with drug parif.... , that's just not right. It's looks like they are trying to push it off on children.

There's nothing illegal about marijuana leaf earrings... (as long as they're not made out of real marijuana, that is) ;-)
I'm a parent too, and I understand your concern. Just don't agree with your strategy.
I wish you the best of luck!
Blessings (^_^)v
