I call this guy, Pink Cigar, due to the obvious color of this Havana Brown (wink) Cat. Lori Plan for 2008Posted Jan-04-08 16:19:50 PST Updated Mar-17-08 11:44:15 PDT It’s 2008 and I am creating a new creative plan for this year. One new focus will be a series of Doggy Mug Shots (full faced.) It will be similar project to what I worked on last year with the cat series. I will also promote Pet Portraits (not just the mug, but the whole body) - as seen in this recent commission. I will continue to paint cats into the rotation, but this will no longer be my sole focus as it as been since summer 2007. I am also excited to introduce a Catalina series, as I have spent some time there this year and hope to capture on canvas what I saw in person. I have also changed the look of the blog, introducing my vintage car series (commissions there are well) - with “Bab’s” being featured as my page header. Bab’s is a 58 Vette. Lastly, I am allowing comments on my Blog - so comment away! Thanks for reading my web blog! Lori Rae Blog Reconstruction - Not just Cat Art AnymorePosted Jan-04-08 06:49:40 PST I'm going to be working on changing my blog a bit over the next few weeks to reflect my art goals for 2008. In doing so, I am going to only be blogging when I post something new on Ebay (weekly at minimum) or when I have something really special to share. I have choosen Wordpress for my Daily Blog because I can really promote both my Ebay and Website business there - as well as the spam problems I have been having with this Blog. I have new art coming up tomorrow - and will follow with a blog and let everyone know when I have re-done this blog. Thanks Lori Happy New Year to all my Ebay FriendsPosted Jan-02-08 08:48:05 PST Just a quick post to say "Hey - Thanks" for reading my blog and commenting - for purchasing and supporting my artwork with words or money. Thanks for support when my cat was sick and when she finally died. I have never met a more supportive group online than Ebay.
End of 2007 - Post from 12/31/7Posted Jan-02-08 07:58:20 PST
The year has been banner for art sales (the best yet) - and the commissions kep coming. 2007 was the year of seeing what works and what doesn’t (with respect to art) - and 2008 will be a year of complete focus of the “right stuff.” I had a few losses this year, a really close uncle - a few friends parents, my husbands favorite uncle - it really stinks getting older. I thank my stars that my parents and in-laws are healthy and well. I also, as you know if you read my blog, lost my kitty cat studio muse - Jasmine Kitty. My life has been turned upside down for the almost 2 weeks that she is gone and I still don’t feel normal. We did get her Cremains back and she is in our house again. This year has been very busy for both my husband and I - with some great highlights (rides in Ginger, our Stingray) - and our honeymoon, as well as a great trip to New Orleans in November. Spending time with my family; seeing friends who live in different states as well as the ones closeby. Forming new friendships with our great new neighbors. Meeting some really cool folks who have the same love for cars and cats as me. Showing in my first Cat Show (my art, not my cat) - Celebrating five years of showing with my friends at the Holiday Art Show on Munjoy Hill - A wonderful, serene walk with my husband on Christmas Day. We also have many fond, funny, and naughty memories of our lost little Jasmine. I label 2007 as the Year of Patience because I spent eight months as a nanny, twelves months soldering little wires to cables, and nursed my sick cat til the end. The cat wasn’t bad I just kicked into parent protect your young mode - but then again, I did that when I nannied as well. I also (in addition to working the two above jobs and my artwork) - temped at various businesses (some great, some not.) I wonder if I have anymore patience than I started with! Hum, I have to believe I do. 2008 will bring day job income with complete art focus for any time off. As this year ends and the new one starts it is already looking promising. Thanks for reading my blog. |
