Most Recent Posts What do sellers have against feedbacks?Posted May-01-07 06:48:45 PDT You know, I'm quite frustrated. Most sellers don't leave feedback, while they always send us a message (usually a note along with the item) asking us to leave theirs. I ALWAYS leave a feedback to the seller as soon as I receive the item, never left anyone without a feedback (thank God, all positive so far!). But... I have now 81 feedbacks while I could have more than 200 (and a different color star!) if they all, or at least the majority, had left any feedback. I don't think it's fair. I understand that many sellers sell a lot of stuff and probably have many feedbacks to leave and little time to do so but I believe feedbacks are as important to us buyers than to sellers. When we are newbies, some sellers don't even let us bid if we have less than 10 or 20 positive feedbacks and I remember that I had already bought more than 40 items, left feedback for all of them and had less than 20 feedbacks in my profile. I don't think it's fair. Should anyone start a campaign pro feedback for buyers or it just happens to me? God bless you all! Being the grumpy old lady!Posted Oct-02-06 13:17:59 PDT Still
commenting on some things I don't really like or understand on E-Bay
auctions and how the sellers have more rights than buyers. I know that
it must be hard to be a seller... that's why I'm trying to learn a lot
and observe a lot before starting to sell anything, they probably have
to deal with buyers that don't pay for the items, others that no matter
what, are never satisfied with the transaction, etc, etc. So they
really need some protection. But some things make me uncomfortable. For example, why a seller can cancel an auction for an item any time he or she wants, with no good reason? It happene already twice with me, I saw some wonderful item listed that I was very anxious to bid on, then I put add them to my "watch list" and the next think I know they have just disappeared from there and there's a message saying that the seller decided to end the auction and not sell the item at all. I don't think it's fair! On the other side, if we retract a bid, we can only do that in very special circumstances but that's not the worst, the problem is that it keeps there stored in our profile, how many bids were retracted by us, and give us a bad reputation..... So maybe the sellers who give up putting some item for auction or end it sooner should have it also registered there in their profile, I think it would make things even. Well, just thoughts! I also can't understand what's behind the auctions with "reserve". Why on earth a seller does that? I rarely see anyone outbidding the "reserve", people usually avoid the items that have reserves, as far as I could notice. Is it like a guessing game? We have to keep bidding and bidding just to guess how much the seller wants for a minimum bid? Why do that? Why don't set a minimun and let the bidders starting from there? Maybe someone can help me understand this thing? E-Bay Emotions....Posted Oct-02-06 08:19:50 PDT Updated Oct-02-06 08:22:34 PDT If
you are bidding on an item, does your heart miss a beat of two when you
are the highest bidder and you keep refreshing the page during the last
seconds of the auction to see if you are still winning? Do you sign
deep with relief when you see that you won the item and almost jump on
the floor with excitement? Do you almost cry when you see that you were
outbid and didn't win your treasure? Do you keep cursing the person who
outbid you and won the item, even if it's totally fair and you are
probably cursed too when you are the winner? Do you also curse the
bidder who makes you pay much more than you hoped to pay for some item
because he or she keeps bidding and then the price gets higher and
higher but he or she doesn't win, but if it were not for his or her
bids, you could have paid the minimum bid and saved quite a lot of
money (even if you do the same to other bidders!)? Then, do you keep checking your mailbox a hundred times every day and when you receive the boxes, do you open them with trembling fingers and a big smile like a child opening presents at Christmas? Do you open get so excited that you spill peanut styrofoam, shreddeed paper and bubble wraps all over the floor (and the dog starts to eat them and choke and then you panic!!!)? Do you keep looking at your item all they long as a child that has just got a new toy? Welcome to the club, you are really an E-Bayer!!! Or maybe it's just me????? LOL Thanks a lot everybody!!!Posted Oct-02-06 08:13:49 PDT I
was totally thrilled this morning when I opened the blog and then found
9 comments already there, wow!!! things are really FAST on the
internet, aren't they! I wish to thank you all for being so kind, for the warm messages of welcome and for the tips, advice, etc. They are very welcome, it just made my day! I eventually want to reply to some of you (of all of you if I have the time!) but I'm still a dummy here, I thought there should be a button for us to reply to the person who posted a comment directly. How do I reply? I know we can go to the person's profile and then send a message from there, but there's probably a "blog way" that is still unknown to me... LOL. I'll eventually find out, tips are gladly welcome! ;-) I love E-Bay!Posted Oct-01-06 20:31:17 PDT Updated Oct-02-06 06:33:02 PDT Wow!!!
I'm starting to get totally addicted to E-Bay! I keep checking for new
items all the time, especially religious statuary! I just love
religious (Catholic) statues and I have quite a collection already, but
I never seem to have enough, they are all so beautiful! I'm running out
of room,
but I always find a little corner for a new one. But I'm not
supersticious about them, I'm fully aware that they are not the saints
and that they just represent saints that are examples of life to us,
like a picture of a loved one. I love art and most are wonderful work
of arts, but I know that they are just plaster, stone or whatever, the
real saints are in Heaven with God. I still have my "holy grails", as a
25 inches Infant Jesus of Prague statue with glass eyes
and detachable crown, but they usually go for more than I can afford!
It can be serious damaged, I don't mind, as I usually can restore it to
look like new. I use to say that, as long as it has the head and the
body is not totally crushed, there's always something I can do! LOL.
Life is difficult here, as I can't have a job due to my social phobia
and, then, my husband has to work extra hours as he has to work for
two, really, especially having a little kid. But I'll save some money
when I can and win one some day, they are beautiful! I already
have some other statues of the Infant of Prague, but I just fell in
love with this model by Columbia Statuary. I'm already starting to make
sense of bidding, and I just HATE snipers!!!!! I know it's "part
of the game", but it seems so unfair that some people are bidding for
an item from the very moment it was listed, usually a week, and they
are outbid at the last second! I know that one can use proxy bidding
and have a maximum bid but, even so, it's not fair that we have to
compete with computer programs that bid for people on the last second
like that, it's very frustrating! Some other things make me uncomfortable too... it seems that sellers have much more rights and privileges than buyers. Most sellers demand that payment be sent withing 10 days, sometimes even less, 5 days, but when we buy, sometimes we have to wait a month to receive the item, and woe to us if we leave a negative feedback, it will be retaliated, for sure! They are not in a hurry to mail us the items (and blame it on the post office). Sometimes it's really a delay in the post office, but I already realised it's not in most cases. Also, many sellers "forget" to leave us a feedback, and they keep "reminding" us to leave theirs! And the feedback is so important, especially when we are beginners! Some sellers don't even accept bidders than have less than 30 feedbacks or so. Life is unfair sometimes! But I've met many wonderful people and awesome sellers, thank God, I even made some friends already! Let's see what the future has in store for me here, I'm still planning to start selling something, probably crafts made by myself. People usually love my work. I just need to have money for the material and time to work on the crafts, as they are quite time consuming and I have to take care of house, dog and a 4 year old kid who is all over me most of the time! |
