The Beckett Guide kind of sucks to find the Value of a Card

New to card collecting/trading/selling - brother-in-law gave me over 5000 cards to sell. I bought 2008 Beckett Guides for Football, Basketball, & Baseball. I am only finding about half of the cards in these Beckett Guides. I was told these were the most inclusive and accurate guides...they are not. Any suggestions on how to find the value of all these cards when they are not in Beckett??

Beckett individually lists the more expensive cards, the others are generally priced by a commons code at the beginning of each different 'set'.
