Getting Small, Going Green

Could Mitsubishi bring its i-car to America successfully?

At the 2008 New York International Auto Show, Mitsubishi revealed it is looking to the U.S. market as a possible fit for the company's tiny 4-passenger car, the i. And if there's a place for the diminutive car on U.S. roads, then perhaps there might also be a market for an electric version, called the i-MIEV. Full Story

There are bunch of similar cars here in Seattle. Its funny to see them on the road with all the regular size cars.

For local trips, in town, where cars aren't traveling at 60-70 miles an hour....MAYBE but for freeways, crazy! It would be suicide.

I used to work for BMW/MINI, and BELIEVE me there are a TON of people who cannot wait to get their hands on odd looking, tiny, fast cars like these.

and up against a semi, no one really has a chance. My co-worker got completely T-boned driving one to it's new owner; tiny little Asian, maybe 5', weighed maybe 90 lbs. She didn't have a scratch on her. Never would have believed it, if I hadn't seen it.

If EVERYONE drove mini cars, then it wouldn't be so dangerous, but with all the bigger ones and SUVS on the road, it's just not worth it.
