Draft Format # 1 - The 8-Man Draft
While there are many different way to run a draft the
most common is the 8-player Booster Draft. Although it is
designed for 8 players it can be done with as few as four.
The basics of the Booster Draft is that each player brings a certain amount of boosters (usually 3) that they then competitively
draft decks from.
- Each player
opens their first booster pack, chooses and keeps one card, then
passes the remaining 14 cards to the left.
- Then each player chooses and takes
a card from the pack that was just passed them (from their
right).
- Repeat this process
until all the cards form the pack are gone.
- Then
repeat this entire process for each booster pack (typically 3).
- Then each player makes a 40
card deck using as much basic land as needed.
