Time to check out what is being searched for the most at make_it_so_marketing's eBay Store !! The following are the top 25 keywords or keyword phrases keypunched in or clicked on links by visitors within our eBay store for the month of June, (Please note: These are not necessarily the words or phrases used by visitors to arrive TO our store, but are the words or phrases used WITHIN our store): 1. AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 22. Adventure comics 23. Kirby 24. Green Lantern 25. Justice League
ANALYIS FOLLOWING ABOVE STATS: WESTERNS: This month we had several visitors checking out our large western comics department aisle, which as of right now has the MOST western comics listed among all stores.... which included Rawhide Kid, Two-Gun Kid, Roy Rogers, but KID COLT was not one of the top 25 this month.
SUPERMAN: With Superman's new movie out this month, the interest in Superman climbed..... and we have stocked the DC Superhero department aisle with newly listed Superman, Action, DC Presents comics to meet that interest.
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN / spider-man: As usual Spidey makes it in the top 25, and when combining the different variations of spellings, is the strong #1 winner of being the most searched title in our eBay Store once again! And we still have 11 more months before the Spidey III Movie is released !!
HORROR / MONSTER: For a change, 'monster' had more hits than 'Horror' this month, looks like's it time to stock up on more of those Bronze Age Titles at the cons !! Well, that's it for this month's What's Hot Report.... Remember, you can check out your traffic reports much easier now by clicking on the link on your manage your store page !
JACK KIRBY art on USPS stamp DC Comics Super-Heroes GREEN ARROW comic bookPosted Jun-30-06 07:53:34 PDT Updated Jul-15-06 17:38:05 PDT A 'heads up' to you Jack Kirby fans out there !!
The USPS will be issuing a set of DC Superheroes stamps later this year, and one of the stamps is based on Jack Kirby's artwork on the Green Arrow! We are big fans of Jack Kirby, with a complete collection of 'the Jack Kirby Collector', and other fanzines and comics. We are selling our duplicates and other comics by Jack Kirby in our eBay store at: Nothing Good on TV tonight?? How about a graphic novel or TPB or comic on your favorite TV Show??Posted Jun-29-06 18:05:47 PDT Updated Jul-15-06 17:38:37 PDT Nothing Good on TV tonight?? How about a graphic novel or TPB or comic based on your favorite TV Show??
Was checking to see what was on tonite on TV, and realized that even with expanded cable, nothing stood out for viewing.... Which made me miss our favorite shows like '24' even more !!! However it got me to thinking that we haven't promoted our TV/Movie Aisle in our eBay Store yet.... so.... We have 175 comic books, graphic novels, or trade paperback that are adaptations of TV Shows like '24', 'The Shield', CSI, CSI Miami, Smallville, Room 222, and movies too numerous too mention here, etc in our eBay store's TV & Movie aisle at: Spider-Man III Movie - Trailer Teaser Now ShowingPosted Jun-28-06 06:47:51 PDT Updated Jul-15-06 17:39:08 PDT Just finished viewing the new trailer teaser for the next Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man III.
This movie looks to be more 'grim and grittier' than the first two. We both loved the first two Spidey movies, because they captured the early years of Spidey from the comics... hopefully this will not be overboard on showing the dark side.... Trailer is at this link: For more 'light hearted' fare, you could also view our Spidey listings, (yes, we also have Venom vs Spidey issues), at our eBay Store at: Superman Returns Movie Starting Soon ! Hype already here !Posted Jun-27-06 17:35:25 PDT Updated Jul-15-06 17:39:34 PDT Last night we were channel surfing and ran across the HSN network.
They spent two hours on promoting Superman comics, watches and other collectibles from the era when Superman 'Died'. Which was the last big wave of instant 'collectibles' that the mainstream public was put through.... Funny how there are still items in bulk that are available for sale, even tho they were supposed to be collectibles ten years ago..... However it was fun to see the 'Superman Returns' trailers, which they showed over and over. Looking forward to seeing the new movie this weekend/next week. So until that happens, today we listed more comics with Superman in them, Action Comics.... World's Finest Comics, and of course Superman comics ! No, we are not staying up late to catch the first showing Wednesday Night ! (Maybe if it was Spider-Man III......) Ok, here is our commercial salute to 'Superman Returns' !! Conan the Barbarian Marvel Comics - New Collection Just Listed !Posted Jun-26-06 14:20:34 PDT Updated Jul-15-06 17:40:02 PDT Following up on the post from June 22nd, we just picked up a new collection of Conan the Barbarian comics this past weekend....
Just about finishing up listing them today after grading them last night. Brought a lot of memories back as I had read the first 50 issues when they first came out.... riding around on my bicycle in the South Bay buying up all the Conans #1 for the then cover price of 15 cents each.... sold them at my first SDCC for $5.00 each... of course today they would sell over $150.00 each 'raw' uncertified. Some things are commercialized, other things are nostalgic, having feeling of both today while listing these: Revised our eBay Store & About Me Pages with Film Loop - Anyone else use Film Loop?Posted Jun-24-06 17:08:42 PDT Updated Jul-15-06 17:40:33 PDT Finished revising our pages with Film Loop, wondering if anyone else has installed this feature on any of their pages?
To see how we have installed it take a look at our store page, (link below): and we used it the same way on our 'About Me' page, which you can also click to. Are you able to see the comics roll past on the screen? Was it a hassle to download any program in order to see the screen work? Thanks in advance for any comments! We heard about this on eBay Radio earlier this week on their Radio Archives. Comic-Con International (San Diego Comic-Con) 2006Posted Jun-23-06 15:51:02 PDT Updated Jul-15-06 17:41:01 PDT Less than a month away now !
We look forward to going to this comic convention every year, because it is basically in our 'back yard', thirty miles to the south in the City of San Diego! For more info on this largest attended comic book convention, just click on the link below:
For comics and comic book related items that we have for sale from past SDCC / Comic-Con International years, just click on the below link: Conan the Barbarian / Red Sonja / Kull / Sword & Sorcery ComicsPosted Jun-22-06 08:01:47 PDT Updated Jul-15-06 17:41:32 PDT We have been seeing new interest in Conan the Barbarian / Red Sonja / Kull the Conqueror & other Sword & Sorcery Comics lately.
Whether it has been because of our listing some new collections from these series in our eBay Store, or that there are new series for both of these characters sparking interest in the old series, we are not for certain. There have been requests for Conan the Barbarian, (Marvel Comics), in the post #150 to the end of series that most dealers don't bring to conventions, but we don't find many of those either in our travels. The seemingly most popularly stocked Conans are the Marvel issues from #75 thru #125. Earlier issues are not regularly found at comic book stores, nor the ones after #125 in any quantity, at least at our LCBS. There was a flurry of Red Sonja sales/requests in May, including her appearances in Marvel Feature, but that has calmed down this month so far. Kull's series seem to be a 'hit or miss' proposition, in that his series will sit for a while, then a collector or two will pick up several issues at once. Doesn't help that his series were renamed and restarted a few times either. Other Sword & Sorcery series do not appear to be as popular at this time. To view our Conan era comics for sale, just click the below cover. Fantastic Four - Comic Book Indexes for Fans of Movie / DVDPosted Jun-19-06 12:26:51 PDT Updated Jul-15-06 17:42:00 PDT Today we listed the series of Official Marvel Index to the Fantastic Four, which ran twelve issues.
The FF Movie was pretty much true to the official history of the comic books, but was 'updated' to the present era. The verbal exchanges between the Torch and the Thing were so similiar to the comics! For those that have not read the original comics, and can't or don't want to afford to read the originals, the Index series pretty much wraps up the early history of the FF in depth. For more info just click on the comic book cover below: Second Tier Series - THE DEFENDERS - Incredible Hulk, Dr Strange & MorePosted Jun-17-06 14:22:22 PDT Updated Jul-15-06 17:42:40 PDT Finally getting around to listing the second tier series, "THE DEFENDERS".
Have somewhat neglected listing this series, even tho some 'big names' are featured in several of the issues. Including the Incredible Hulk, Doctor Strange, Silver Surfer, and Namor the Sub-Mariner..... The series kind of drifted and toward the end of the run was revamped to the 'New Defenders' which didn't have the appeal to me that the earlier issues had. Most of these Bronze Ages issues can be had for what it cost for a brand new comic book today, $2.99, except for the early issues with the big names. You would think that with Hulk having a recent movie, and with Television reruns of his TV Show with Bill Bixby still running, that there would be increased interest.... Film Loop & Uses of For Our eBay Store.Posted Jun-16-06 14:08:02 PDT Updated Jul-15-06 17:43:15 PDT While listening to eBay Radio earlier this morning on wsradio.com, I paid attention to the fact that Film Loop is now offering its' services for free for placement on eBay web pages.
Made a quick Film Loop to see how it operated, and placed it on our store custom page to review and think about where else this would be good for viewing..... Probably will add to the about me page and other pages after checking how it loads, we are on cable and it did take a while to load originally. Our comics do look pretty neat tho, as they roll across the film loop.
Unfortunately this eBay blog does not allow us to place the code on it to view the film loop. Green Hornet & Kato Mini Video / ComicsPosted Jun-15-06 07:07:19 PDT Updated Jul-15-06 17:43:45 PDT Just finished watching a French Production of a mini video featuring the Green Hornet & Kato with voices in English. It can be found by clicking the comic cover below. Be sure to view the full video as the credits at the end are fun to watch! For those of you that are comic book collectors, the Green Hornet has been published by Harvey Comics, Gold Key Comics and lastly Now Comics. We were lucky enough to meet Van Williams at the San Diego Comic Con when he was signing photos during the Now Comics publishing run. Western Comic Books - New Rawhide Kid Marvel MasterworksPosted Jun-14-06 17:49:19 PDT Updated Jul-15-06 17:44:13 PDT Had an e-mail today asking about the Cisco Kid in comic books. As we live just down a ways from the Carillo Ranch in Carlsbad, California, we have run across Cisco Kid Comics before and realized who the Hollywood star was. However for the most part, the sales for his comics were far and few between, and the comics sat in our e-bay store for a while until found. We still buy collections of westerns but don't actively purchase just Cisco Kid Comics. Which got me to thinking about how many western comics were listed in eBay Stores as of today, and what interest there is in them. I know that Marvel is printing soon a Marvel Masterworks Book for the Rawhide Kid shortly, reprinting issues #17 thru #25 in prestige format. So they must think there is a demand for at least their most popular western character to go to the expense of setting up a Book reprinting those stories. Checking the stores listing, I find that our eBay Store is #8 in Golden Age Westerns with 73 listings. Next, our eBay Store is #1 in Silver Age Westerns with 313 listings, and the next closest store at 177 listings. There is no breakout for westerns in the Bronze Age listings. Our sales for westerns have been decent, and we have been fortunate to come across collections that we are interested in, (Atlas / Marvel Westerns), that we read before reselling. One of the great things about having an eBay store is that we get to read for the first time / or re-read for the first time in years, the comics before listing them in our store. We just don't see that many westerns brought by other dealers to comic cons anymore, and most comic stores just don't have them in back issue sections. Maybe it is time for Marvel to start a Masterworks series on their western heroes ! Superman Returns Movie / Interest in ComicsPosted Jun-11-06 07:51:07 PDT Updated Jul-15-06 17:44:44 PDT The new 'Superman Returns' movie is being released Wednesday June 28th. From the number of 'watchers' on our eBay Store items featuring Superman in comic books, we are seeing an increased interest in Superman / Action Comics, etc. comic books already.... Whether or not the movie generates new interest in casual readers, (not collectors), in back issues of comics remains to be seen. However, we are pleased in the recent activities of sales and 'watchers' of our Superman listings. For more on the 'Superman Returns' movie release date & web site click the cover below Frame Listing feature being implementedPosted Jun-09-06 21:02:47 PDT Updated Jul-15-06 17:45:28 PDT Reading further into store features we found that 'Frame Listing' has been added.
Not for sure when it was added, but realized that it was a feature that would complement our Fixed Price listings, in that it would show our store categories and search features at the left of the listings. That would be a great navigation tool, and thus we are adding it to all our listings and rearranging listings that have large scans. An example would be the following: Thanks to Seller Special: 20 cent Listings - We Just Broke the 5,000 Mark on Comic Books Listings!Posted Jun-08-06 08:13:16 PDT Updated Jul-15-06 17:45:51 PDT Thanks to the Seller Special: 20 cent Listings - We Just Broke the 5,000 Mark in total number of listings!
First time ever we have had that many Comic Book & related listings up at one time !
X-Men III - The Last Stand - Listing MCP with Weapon X - WolverinePosted Jun-07-06 13:40:14 PDT Updated Jul-15-06 17:46:19 PDT We saw the movie, X-Men III - the Last stand this past weekend.....so decided to list some Marvel Comics Presents with Weapon X - (Wolverine) comics today. Movie was better than we expected, and the last scene after the screen credits rolled by was only viewed by a few persons left in the theater. Was surprised more people didn't stay..... maybe they didn't get the word? |
