2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY - Jack Kirby Comic Book Series Based on Movie

Just finished reading the Jack Kirby Comic Book Series Based on the Movie.

The comics were based on concepts from the MGM / Stanley Kubrick Production of 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY

As with Jack's other Sci-Fi series, OMAC, this 2001 comic book series was very strange in scope. Although I love Jack's artwork, the storyline was a little offbeat. This was one of Jack's mid 1970's series, one of which he started for Marvel Comics after coming back to them when his DC stint was over.

The Monolith was the key feature to this series, which tied all the loose threads together. The promo was 'Begin a New Journey to the Stars - and Beyond!'  Which is what the comic books did do.

We have most of the series listed in our eBay Store, with introductory prices on the early issues for reading, (not collecting), purposes.  Just click on the logo below to be introduced to this comic book series:

Store Items Will Show Up in Search... Just Need to Inform Buyers!

Found this interesting post under the Stores Discussion Board.... Post is as follows:

Stores are back in search now, under the BIN tab. Just did some searches of my own to verify it. This is the best eBay will do for us, so my suggestion is to start educating the buyer in what the BIN tab is. Won't cost a thing and it might help a little.

We at Make It So Marketing are going to copy the banner that went along with the above post, and start using it in several of our listings also. Not going to show it here, as we don't want the poster's hosting service to be swamped with sellers just copying the properties of the pic, instead of right clicking, copying it and then hosting it on their own hosting service.

The discussion thread is titled:

I'm Paying Less Total Fees--But Higher Percentage of Profits. You?

The pic is in post #3 and is a great tool to use!

You can resize it smaller using simple html text.

JUST LISTED! Bronze Age Low & Mid Grade AMAZING SPIDER-MAN comics...

We just finished listing many Bronze Age Low & Mid Grade AMAZING SPIDER-MAN comics in the eBay Store.

PLUS we are willing to accept 'SUBMIT YOUR BEST OFFER' on them as an added feature on almost all of the low grade comic books.  We have been asked for 'reader' copies or 'filler' copies before, but normally we don't have them.

Enjoyed the X-Men Movies.... But Just Can't Get Into the Uncanny X-Men Comics...

Ok, as the above title says..... Enjoyed the X-Men Movies.... But Just Can't Get Into the Uncanny X-Men Comics...

I started with the earliest X-Men issues, those by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, my interest waned after Jack left, as up in Kodiak, Alaska there were only so many issues coming into the Navy Base's Navy Exchange.  I was more interested in FF, DD, Amazing Spidey and other Marvel comics once I found out about them. Even at 12 cents each, my allowance only went so far, and distribution was spotty.  Believe me, it was hard to collect Marvels back then, with their continued stories, as they had such spotty distribution !

Anyways, I just couldn't get into the X-Men, and when they went into reprints, that was it for me, I stopped even looking for them.  So  I missed out on the formation of the New X-Men, tried to read a few issues later with Claremont, but by then, it was all too convulted and complicated for me to get back into....

Even today, after picking up several issues at the SDCC, I just can't get into reading them... just grade them, price them, inventory them, and then get ready to list in the eBay store.....

... whereas, I find myself stopping to read select stories in the HoRRoR comics we purchased.... stopped to read the entire OMAC series before listing.... read the Amazing Spideys from 102 up that we just listed..... etc.

But I did find X-Men III The Last Stand a far better movie than Superman Returns!   Just can't sit down and read the Uncanny X-Men books.... just listing them in the eBay store, so take advantage of this and see if there are any issues you need to fill your collection, or just to read..... as I can't !!!      Michael

JACK KIRBY'S mid 1970's vision of the Future in OMAC comic book series

One of the great things about attending comic book conventions, is that we are able to pick up complete sets of comic book series from other dealers that we can buy, read & enjoy, and then list in our eBay store for others to obtain at reasonable prices.

The OMAC (One Man Army Corps) series by Jack Kirby is one that we have never read in its' complete run.  With having the complete run now to read at one sitting, it is very interesting on how the 'King of Comics' viewed the Future in this series.

It is one of the strangest comic book series that I have ever read, with views on aging, peace keeping, and other topics that are still talked about today.... the best thing for me was the usual Jack Kirby machinery, of which he was master of drawing !!

I personally rank Jack's Fantastic Four series, (with Stan Lee), as my favorite comic book run of all time, and it is so strange to see what Jack produced on his own after leaving Stan at Marvel.  I like several of the Kamandi, Silver Star, and Eternals issues, but this OMAC series is so weird that I don't know what to make of it after reading it all !

If you have not read this series, or missed a few issues, we have them listed in our eBay store at:

Should you have any comments regarding this series or other Jack Kirby Series, feel free to post them here....

More Comics Listed from SDCC - Blackhawk DC Comics #194 - 251 collection

Whew!

Another comic book run has been listed in our eBay store, a complete run of Blackhawk Comics from DC Comic Publisher. Issues run from #194 - 251 in various grades.

We normally don't stock Blackhawk Comics, but after Michael saw the collection at another dealer at Comic Con International - San Diego, (SDCC), he remembered enjoying reading several of the the issues when they first came out.  As newstand distribution in Alaska was a little spotty in 1964 - 1966, he never was able to read them all.

Now that they are read, they are available for sale at:
