American Idol Update: Blake Vs. Regis !
Live With Regis & Kelly TV Show
Just finished watching the clip on AOL.com again featuring Blake Lewis' performance on 'Live With Regis & Kelly TV Show'.
Blake sounded fantastic!
When Regis Philbin started his beatboxing it was actually funny! But then again I've liked Regis years before he made it to the big time.
I remember when Regis was out here in San Diego many years ago.
I skipped school one day to go to his daytime afternoon show with a school friend and his mother. Regis had Imogene Coca on that day. It was after she had starred with Joe E Ross in the 1966-67 TV Show 'It's About Time', which I enjoyed! Imogene played a cavewoman on that show of all things and was pretty funny! She was great to see in person!
Anyway, for those of you that haven't seen the Blake / Regis clip, and you liked Blake on American Idol.... then check it out!!!
For those interested in TV shows like 'American Idol', we have several Movie and TV based comic books or graphic novels in our eBay Featured Comic Book Store . Just click on the link provided!

Just Added Our Comment To this International Discussion Board Thread:
The Name of the eBay Group where we posted the comment is:
THE INTERNATIONAL COMIC BOOK BUYERS CLUB
The Comment Post is as follows:
Due to the May 14th USPS services changing and costs going up, PLUS eBay changing the shipping fields, we have had to revise our 2,000 active and expired listings one more time!
So as not to be caught in this continually changing environment, we have elected to NOT use a shipping service on our eBay Featured Store listings any more.
When a seller elects NOT to list a shipping service, the potential bidder / buyer is directed to email the seller for cost. Unfortunately that is the way we have elected to go, as there is another USPS cost change projected for early 2008! (We are posting our International Shipping Rates At the Top of our eBay Featured Store header, which is NOT subject to individual edits.)
We once had 6,500 listings in our eBay store UNTIL last summer 2006 when eBay raised the listing fees on store listings from 2 cents to 5 or 10 cents depending on value of listing.
Additionally we opened up our own web site to store the slower movers, especially after eBay stopped showing our listings on eBay UK CN & AU, where almost all of our international sales came from.
So as of May 2007, we are showing our listings for sale only to the UK, CANADA & AUSTRALIA. Our combined international shipping rates will be shown at the top of our store header and anywhere else that we don't have to individually edit each time that the USPS changes their rates, or where eBay won't allow us to BULK edit!
Thanks for reading this, and we would welcome your comments below!
Michael (and Tina)
The above comment was in response to a discussion thread posted on that 'International Comic Book Buyers Club' as follows:
New USPS Shipping Rates & Service Changes
Effective May 14, 2007:
USPS Rates and Fees
USPS International Service Changes
Global Express Mail will be replaced by Express Mail International
Airmail Parcel Post, Economy Parcel Post, and Global Priority Mail will be replaced by Priority Mail International.
Airmail Letter Post and Economy Letter Post will be replaced by First Class Mail International.
We want to thank YOU for checking out this blog post today, and welcome your comments below if any !

The 'GET SMART ' Movie Is Coming to SDCC!
'Get Smart' Is a New Movie That Is Scheduled to present a Program and a Sneak Peak at the upcoming San Diego Comic Con International in July 2007!
This is from the SDCC Int'l Update issue #2 which has recently hit the comic book stores and those subscribers on their mailing list.
Get Smart has started shooting in February of this year. The film is scheduled to be released June 20th of 2008.
The film will feature Steve Carrell as Maxwell Smart, and Anne Hathaway as Agent 99. Alan Arkin will play the Chief !
For those that are new to what 'Get Smart' will be / or was:
Get Smart Has been a TV Show... and a Theatrical Movie.... and a Toy Line....
Originally 'Get Smart' was an American comedy television series. It satirized the then popular secret agent genre that was started by the James Bond novels and movies.
The 'Get Smart' TV show ran on the NBC television network from 1965 to 1969, and then on CBS from 1969 to 1970, airing a total of 138 different episodes!
It was such a hit that it was my high school English Teacher who requested my class to watch the show... which my folks didn't really believe was part of my high school 'homework' !!
The TV series, which was written and created by Mel Brooks and Buck Henry, won seven Emmy Awards and was also nominated for an additional fourteen Emmys and two Golden Globe Awards during its' long TV run.
Dell Comics published a comic book series for eight issues during 1966 and 1967, some of which were drawn by Steve Ditko, co-creator of the Amazing Spider-Man!
In 1980 the theatrically released 'The Nude Bomb' (also known as The Return of Maxwell Smart or Maxwell Smart and the Nude Bomb) was popular. Later the made-for-TV movie 'Get Smart, Again!' was shown in 1989 on the ABC network.
However, ABC lost out on a short lived 1995 weekly series when the FOX TV network aired 'Get Smart' with Don Adams and Barbara Feldon reprising their characters, as their bumbling son, Zach (Andy Dick), becomes CONTROL's new star agent.
As a historical footnote....with the final revival series on Fox, 'Get Smart' became the first television franchise to air new episodes on all of the current four major American television networks, NBC,CBS, ABC and then FOX!
For those wanting to 'Get Smart' or even close to being smarter, we have TV & Movie Comics in our eBay Featured Store and eBay Pro Store!

David Hasselhoff as....
Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. !

|
Recently my youngest son and I checked out the 1997 TV Movie, Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD.
I had missed it when it first was aired, and taped it earlier for viewing with my son. This movie was made before Marvel Comics started to make it big with Theatrical Movies of their super-heroes like Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four, etc.
This TV movie was not up to par with the above named theatrical movies.
David Hasselhoff tried to portray Nick Fury in the movie, but he just didn't make it for me, too much of a caricature for me...
Lisa Rinna was the 'Contessa', but she didn't come across either for me. Come to think of it... none of the actors really portrayed the characters that have a long history in the comic books.
Unfortunately there was too much background info to give to the viewer all at once, and it just wasn't done right. This is a poor example of a comic book movie, sad to say.
For those interested in Marvel comic books, from which Nick Fury is derived, we have several listed in both our eBay Featured Store and eBay Pro Store.
Thanks for reading this blog post, and feel free to post your comment!

7,000 Visitors To Our Blog Since 15, 2006 !

This Blog Was Started June 7th 2006 shortly after eBay announced it was starting blogs!
Our first blog post was about seeing the last of the X-Men movies trilogy, X-Men III, and that we were listing several X-Men comics for sale because of the good review we gave the movie and interest in anything X-Men was growing...
Our second blog post came the next day, June 8th, where we proudly stated that we had hit the 5,000 mark of active listings in our eBay Featured Store! (The next month we were at the San Diego Comic Con when eBay announced that they were raising store listings insertion fees from 2 cents to 5 or 10 cents in August... due to that increase we have kept approximately 2,000 active and expired listings since then in our eBay Featured Store, PLUS keeping approx 5,500 in our own web site!)
The earliest blog posts were simple text with a small pic or two. Having been the publisher of a Family Genealogical Newsletter for 15 years, I wanted to make this blog post a little fancier and started adding graphics and links to previous blog posts for newcomers to the blog.
When Tina bought the domain name www.ComicBookCollectorsBlog.com to distribute our blog posts even further than the eBay community, I proceeded to add each post to both the eBay Blog & Our Own Blog. Additionally I have submitted both to different Blog Directories for exposure outside the eBay community.
Today we get several visitors each day, with a few that add their comment to our blog posts. For non-ebayers, our domain name web site blog is the place to post your comment if you don't want to join eBay!
We want to thank YOU for checking out this blog post today, and appreciate all of YOU who have checked out our posts in the past months since July 15th 2006 when we added on a stats meter !
