It's
Mini-Mates
To The Rescue!
Sometimes there are new products that come out that deserve just a little bit more attention, so I'll sit down and blog about 'em!
This upcoming set of Mini-Mates is one of them, IMHO.
These are so darn cute that I wouldn't mind having a set of them on my home office desk!
These are the Marvel Comics MiniMates Avengers #1 Box Set of 4 from Art Asylum. This set features the all-star founders of the Avengers as they first appeared in Avengers #1 back in 1963!
This Mini Mates box set contains the Golden Armored Iron Man, Ant-Man, the Wasp and the Incredible Hulk in true Jack Kirby style.
Plus, included in the set are bonus pieces to create alternate looks for the Wasp (of course!), and transform the Ant-Man into Giant Man!
These are sculpted and designed by the folks at Art Asylum, and look like one of the Minimates releases that absolutely cannot be missed for True Believers!
So put it on your 'To Buy Later List', as this set is due to ship by late October of 2008!
We have an ongoing Comic Con and Pop Culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Venom and Carnage
What a Nightmare!
I've been listing a bunch of Amazing Spider-Man comics that feature Venom and Carnage - what a nightmare!
If you've been reading our blogs you know that my husband, Michael, grew up with Marvel Comics in the '60s.
I'm the newcomer. So, he had to explain to me that Carnage is actually Venom's not-so-adorable 'offspring'.
(Technically Carnage is the combination of a symbiote spawned from the original Venom symbiote and the serial killer, and former cell mate of Eddie Brock, Cletus Kasady.)
Who came up with that? That's someone I never want to be trapped in an elevator with.
So, I'm listing Amazing Spider-Man issue #346 and I'm waiting for the picture to upload. I'm staring at the cover trying to figure out what it is. I guess I was staring a little too closely because it took me a while to realize it was Venom's disgusting face and that red thing is his disgusting tongue! Oh gross - I'm gonna have nightmares now for sure.
After listing these comics, I now understand the disappointment of some Spidey fans in Venom's depiction in Spider-Man III. I first heard about this from a clerk in our local Blockbuster. She gave the movie a thumbs down soley because of her disappointment with Venom - he just wasn't intense enough for her. At the time, I really wondered what she'd expected - now I know better! But I can understand why Rami sanitized Venom for the movie going masses.
A personal aside: Since Spidey-3, whenever Michael comes back from Blockbuster, I ask if he saw our favorite clerk , "Venom Girl." Since then he's actually told her I refer to her by that name - and she likes it! It's a whole new generation of comic book fans! I'm sure they'll enjoy these Amazing Spider-Man featuring Venom and Carnage.

The X-Files Has A New Licensed Product Coming!
There is a lot of action in the long dormant X-Files Franchise right now.
Creator Chris Carter has announced that WildStorm, (a DC Comics imprint) has acquired the X-Files Comics license.
Back in 1995 Topps Comics had come out with a series of comics with painted comics that really caught the X-Files experience on paper IMHO.
With the very first teaser trailer for The X-Files: I Want to Believe Film now showing, the buzz on all things X-Files is starting to pick up!
I have kept mum on this upcoming film for the most part, as very little has come out as to what the film is about... who stars, the storyline, and if we should even care it's coming!
After the X-Files had its' Series Finale several years ago... I found myself missing the show for several years... especially as Topps Comics also stopped publishing their take on the TV Show in printed format.
Then, its' fondness in my viewing habits subsided as other new shows made impact with Tina and I at the SDCCs where those new TV Shows were previewed, (Lost, Invasion, Heroes, Jericho, etc.)
The X-Files trailer makes me miss the old X-Files TV Show, but not enough is shown to get me to put its' release date on my calendar yet....
Will I put the new WildStorm published Comics on my reading queque? Not yet, as I haven't seen any teasers on the artwork or story. WildStorm is known for its' art, not story, so I'll be waiting this out a bit...

The Hulk Movie
Doesn't Look Incredible for Women
Unlike Marvel's popular film Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk movie which opens June 13th doesn't look like it will be a hit with the female movie audience -- if this female's reaction is any indication.
After suffering through Ang Lee's version - Michael and I were still practically newlyweds so I agreed to see it - my interest in seeing another on-screen Hulk was pretty slim. In fact, I'd already told Michael, "No way!" After seeing the trailer I've become even more adamant.
Granted Bruce Banner isn't Tony Stark; he doesn't have the looks, the charm or the dough - but The Hulk? Nerdy scientist turns into enormous raging green monster - I don't think so. The only reason why the character lasted on television was the casting of Bill Bixby plain and simple.
When I saw Edward Norton was cast in this remake, I thought very interesting...very good actor. But, frankly I've been fooled before (Ang Lee, very interesting...very good director - and we all know how that turned out.) While I think it's fantastic that such incredible talent is coming to "Comic Book" movies (Norton, Lee, Downey, Terrence Howard, I could go on and on) it only amplifies the true nature of the comic character. Example: Ioan Gruffud as Reed Richards - man that guy bugs me!
I wondered about the casting of Tim Roth, which pretty much telegraphs to the audience: "Villian - sick and twisted version." After seeing the clips featuring The Abomination, I sure don't want to be subjected to extended scenes featuring that monstrosity. (I'm still having flashbacks of those disgusting dogs from the first movie.)
So, I think it's a fair bet the ladies are going to stay away.
Note to guys: take your lady to see Iron Man. If you don't know it, women have a thing for Robert Downey, Jr. and they'll love that Gwyneth Paltrow's in it. Iron Man is your super hero date movie of the summer. You can check out Hulk with your buddies. And in the meantime, we just listed a bunch of Hulk in our store. Oh, and some of the She-Hulk - now that's a gal who could handle watching a Hulk movie. Check 'em out here!

An 'Eternal' Concept...
"The Eternals"
Another Jack Kirby Series Ahead Of Its' Time!
Over the weekend we picked up another collection of Jack Kirby Comics including his early 1970's series of Kamandi for DC Comics and his mid 1970's The Eternals for Marvel Comics.
To set the stage for the Eternals we would have to go back to 1970, when Jack Kirby left Marvel Comics to work on several projects for DC Comics.
Those projects included the saga of the 'New Gods' which was a separate Comic Book Series.
The New Gods was an epic story that involved both mythological and science fiction concepts. Jack had planned to have a definite ending to this epic.
However, this saga and his other 'Fourth World' titles were left incomplete after their early cancellation.
Jack Kirby, with his recent work for DC still in mind, began T'he Eternals' when he returned to Marvel Comics.
The Eternals' saga was truly thematically similar to the New Gods' work, but once again early cancellation this time by Marvel Comics left the series hanging without resolving many of its continuing sub-plots, in particular The Celestials' judgment over humanity.
However, Marvel just like DC in the years that followed both cancellations re-thought their viewpoints on the cancelled series.
So it was writers Roy Thomas and Mark Gruenwald who brought the Eternals into the 'official' Marvel Universe continuity. It was in a then very long storyline in the Mighty Thor comic book series that resolved the earlier cancelled sub plots and plot lines. The Big Finale climaxed in Thor #300!
So to you bloggers just reading about this series for the first time.... Who Were The Eternals?
They are a fictional race of 'superhumans' in the Marvel Comics Universe. They were an off-shoot of humanity that were created on the Earth by the alien Celestials. Of course in fiction there would have to be a race of counterparts, who are called the Deviants, and the two sides have waged war for centuries...
The Eternals made their first comic book appearance in The Eternals #1 published by Marvel Comics in July 1976. This is a small comic book series to collect. The original series numbered only 19 issues in the set.

Have You Taken Advantage Of The
Tax Loopholes For
eBay Sellers?
As previously blogged here, Tina and I have posted some 'reviews' in the eBay Reviews and Guides Section off and on for several months.
So this month I've been reading or re-reading books on blogging and eBay itself, as both Tina and I expand the scope of our operations on this, my 10th Anniversary on the Web!
The book 'Tax Loopholes For eBay Sellers' was of course one that I wanted to check out again...
Here is my Review that was posted earlier in the eBay Reviews Section:
Although This Book Was Published In 2005...
...the information in this book is still timely for the most part! Who doesn't want to pay less tax and make more money?!
During eBay Live 2005 I took in one of the programs that Diane Kennedy, CPA, presented. I found her topic interesting, organized and aided by multiple visual aids.
This book was written the same way. Janelle Elms, an eBay University instructor was the co-author of this book, and I have listened to her on the eBay Radio shows several times before.
More than just a how-to book, this is presented as a 'why' to do what Diane and Janelle suggest you as an eBay owner to do. Being in the accounting field myself, I found that the subjects presented in this book are well written, informative, and right on the money.
If you want to take your eBay business to the next levels, then you should either check out this book in your local library or buy one on eBay itself.
So this month I've been reading or re-reading books on blogging and eBay itself, as both Tina and I expand the scope of our operations on this, my 10th Anniversary on the Web! This book is a good foundation for YOUR eBay business. Check it out!
