Kooky 'Kook' The Pig Had A Send Off Dinner....
From Porkyland, San Diego!
After Spending All Week AtThe 2008 SDCC Comic Con International!
Tina and my Annual Comic Con Closing Dinner takes place after 5:00 PM on the final day of the Con, Sunday.
That is... sometime after 5:00 PM PST, as quite often we are carrying out boxes of last minute purchases from other dealers at the Con!
This year we finished at 5:00 PM as our vehichle was full, and only room left for Kook!
Since we eat just convention food all 5 days and nights except for snacks we bring in, we always leave Sunday Night for our Big Treat!
Our three favorite End of Con Places to eat are: Fillippi's Pizza Grotto in Little Italy - Downtown San Diego if we get there early enough, Todai (sushi) in Mission Valley if we have enough time, or Porkyland if we are way tooo tired and just plain hungry!
This year Kooky 'Kook' The Pig joined us at Porkyland... check out her expression in the top photo of this column for posted hours! She wanted to know if we really wanted to go in with her!!!
For those of you new to this blog post series on Kooky 'Kook' the eBay Blog Pig, she was started by eBayer saenzmom in honor of fellow eBayer innerkookart!
Kooky has had a great time with us and is winding down sharing her experiences at this convention with this, her next to last blog post...
So sit back and enjoy the almost final photos in the right column from this blog post series!
Note: You can 'right click' the photos, then copy and paste the 'properties' (url) of the pic to a new browser window, and then see larger photos of Kooky!
For those of you interested in upcoming films and TV Show promotional items, we invite you to check back later on our blog posts when we'll be listing promotional items received at the programs and blogging about what we've seen there this year! Tina and I split up to take in more programs to blog about... EUReKA, Heroes, Lost, Terminator: Salvation, Twilights, and Red Sonja just to name a few!!
BTW, We also have an ongoing Comic Con and Pop Culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and latest listings of items for sale!
Thanks for reading this post today and please join us again for more... however we will be back to our regularly scheduled blog post of the programs and costumed characters we encountered during all 5 days and nights of the Comic Con after one final Kook blog post!

Kooky 'Kook' The Pig and Tina outside of Porkyland in the Barrio Logan section of San Diego.... Kook was getting counseling on how to brave the stress of actually entering 'Porkland' by Tina. It took Kooky some time before she would enter, but she too was ravenous after eating only Convention Center food all week!

The photo to the top left is Kooky when the refried beans, Spanish rice, and tortillas came to the table!
The photo to the right shows Kooky realizing she could eat everything except the 'carnitas', a fancy word for shredded pork!
After almost being eaten by The Werewolf and The Cat at the Convention, (see previous blog posts), Kook was pleased that she didn't end up on the menu!
Kooky 'Kook' The Pig realizing that the 'carnitas' plate is really 'shredded pork' and that Michael loved carnitas and tequila for dinner.... That's when she realized her flight to bushellcollectibles back on the East Coast was none too soon!

Kooky 'Kook' the eBay Blog Pig, started by eBayer saenzmom in honor of fellow eBayer innerkookart, had a great time with us and is winding down the sharing of her experiences at this convention...
So sit back and enjoy a few photos in the right column from the next to the last blog post from Comic Con 2008 this year that Kooky is featured in!

Kooky 'Kook' The Pig thought she was in the remake of the serial 'The Perils of Pauline' early Sunday Morning while in line at the 2008 SDCC Comic Con International! It seemed that every villain or villainess wanted a bite out of Kooky!!

The photo to the top left is Kooky when The Cat pounced on her as we were unawares of that villainess Cat's intentions!
The photo to the right shows Kooky's line buddy Hector replaying how The Cat pounced on Kook and was about to claw Kook's eyes out until he came to save the day! Tina only looks amused as Hector played to great gusto how the Cat was going to eat Kooky all up! Until he pulled out some catnip for The Cat!
After almost being eaten by The Werewolf, (shown in a previous blog post), and now by The Cat.... Kook's looking forward to going to the East Coast to see bushellcollectibles next! Matter of fact she should be there today per the delivery confirmation receipt!
Kooky 'Kook' The Pig wanted all of you to know that she made it safely back and forth to the San Diego Convention Center for the Comic Con!
However she, like Michael, was sad when it came to an end.... However Michael is looking forward to July 2009 when once again he will be celebrating his Birthday at the Comic Con! (Alas, without Kook.)

Comic Con Line Buddies II:
Return of the Jedi!
At Seen At The 2008 SDCC Comic Con International!
We first met Susan Shinkai back in 2002 -- our first Comic Con as a married couple. We quickly became Line Buddies hooking up most morning to share stories of what we collect (Susan's into Star Wars, BSG and Disney), what we'd seen, and what programs we were planning to see.
It's always a pleasure to while away the pre-opening hours in conversation with articulate Pop Culture fans. We look for Susan every year. Either we find her or she finds us. Susan's easy to spot in either her Jedi Knight uniform with light saber or her Pirates of the Caribbean outfit complete with a sword that's about as long as she is tall!
But last year, no Susan. We'd wondered if we'd just missed her. Or if something had happened to prevent her coming. So when we didn't see her again on the first morning of this year's Comic Con, we were concerned.
Well, I'm happy to report that we found Susan in line on Friday morning - she'd forgotten to pack her sword, but we still recognized her! Turns out she had an emergency at work and only made it to one day of the 2007 Comic Con.
Michael and Susan got a chance to catch up while I went to wait with all the Watchmen fans outside Hall H.
Tina!
Addendum from Michael: Susan saw the first Star Wars Film at the Cornet Theater in San Francisco after attending a 1976 Star Trek Convention and seeing a trailer for the then upcoming Star Wars Film!
BTW, We also have an ongoing Comic Con and Pop Culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!
Thanks for reading this post today and please join us again for more! |
As Tina stated in the column to the left, we were concerned that we had not seen Susan Shinkai at the 2007 SDCC Comic Con International. It is amazing how you form friendships in line each year and look forward to seeing those friends again a year later! (BTW, Susan is also an eBayer!)
For all of our currently listed Star Trek, Star Wars and other Sci-Fi comics and Magazines listings just click on the photo above! We will be listing more we purchased from the 2008 SDCC in the days to come after listing the Comic Con Promos first!

Twilights Lights Up Fans at Comic Con:
As Seen At The 2008 SDCC Comic Con International!
All the "campers" who pulled an all-nighter outside the entrance to Comic Con's Hall H Wednesday night were there for "Twilight."
My new line buddies quickly brought me up to speed on the four-book vampire series.
Written by a Mormon woman, the Twilight books are romantic, not graphic, or so I was told by a woman whose daughter is crazy for them.
The story revolves around a family of vampires (how sweet!) who no longer need human blood; they can satisfy their thirst with other animals.
Young fans are agonizing over whether the teen heroine Bella will end up with the vampire boy or the werewolf boy. Ah, the joys of young love!
The most important thing I learned from the Twilight movie panel was: Twilight fans emit a sound that only dogs should be able to hear. And, I think my line buddy was either lying to me or incredibly naive about what her teenage daughter reads because the Twilight trailer was extremely violent and sexually charged.
If you're into vampires and werewolves, check out our horror comics by clicking here. If you want to see some real teenage romance, click here.
We also have an ongoing Comic Con and Pop Culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!
